This outfit is worn by Felicity in the original edition of Meet Felicity and in the books Felicity Learns a Lesson, Happy Birthday, Felicity!, Changes for Felicity, in the short stories "Felicity Takes a Dare", "Felicity Discovers a Secret", and "Felicity's Dancing Shoes," and in the DVD Felicity: An American Girl Adventure. It was Felicity's Meet Outfit from her debut in 1991 until 2005, and it was available as a separate purchase briefly in 2005 when Felicity's Meet Outfit changed.
PC description: Felicity comes dressed in a flower-striped gown edged in ruffles. Underpants were not worn in 1774, but under her gown there is a simple shift. She wears white wool stockings and black shoes with fancy buckles. Her shoes are "single-lasted," which means they are just alike and will fit on either foot. In colonial times people switched their shoes from one foot to the other so they would wear evenly!"
I love this meet outfit too! Mine is PM China made and seems thin too-well not thin exactly but thinner than some other clothes. I also love the original meet accessories.

I love this dress! I have the Mattel version. It is just beautiful with Felicity's coloring. The fabric does seem a bit thin, but it doesn't seem to be cheap in anyway. I wish they still used this as Felicity's Meet dress, or at least still offered the Mob cap and coral necklace with it. I would love to be able to get these pieces. I give it a B+ since it is just the dress with no accessories. I do think every Lissie should have this though.

I just got the Mattel version in the mail today...its nice but it seems like the fabric is stiffer then I remember the premattel version to be. I also dont think it looks very good with the the paniers in her underpinnings set. There just simply is not enough material in the skirt...B+ could be improved with more fabric in the skirt and softer fabric.

I received this the other day as a gift for myself, and I opened it to check it over before giving it to my mom to wrap, and I noticed that the blue stripe in the print was a LOT more prominant than in all the pictures I've seen of it.
Also, when I put it on Beatrice, it was really loose - there was about an extra inch of fabric all around the bodice. Is this how it is supposed to be?

Also, the dolls made in the last several years are SO much skinnier than previous generations, which could explain the looseness.

I was sent a new Rose Garden Dress from CS, because I was worried about how big the first one was, and the lady I talked to (Karen) said that it's definitely not supposed to be THAT big. Well, the new one fits so much better! I can fit one hand under the dress, between the fabric and Beatrice's torso, rather than two, and the ruffle is nice and perky. The colors are so flattering on Beatrice, too. I can't wait to make her a matching cap and apron! I finally put the Rose Garden Gown on with the new replacement shift underneath (it's the shift with elastic in the neckline), and I have to say it makes a HUGE difference in the fit of the dress! It doesn't seem big at all now, instead of being a little gaping, and I like the bit of gathered fabric you see above the ruffle. You do get a problem with the shift's sleeves bunching under the sleeves of the gown, but I was able to fix that but sticking a finger underneath and tugging it down. I should really get that apron made soon, because the dress looks awesome on Beatrice --- KERI

I'm glad I bought Felicity before they changed her Meet dress, because it looks a lot better than the Traveling Gown. Anyway, although it might seem a bit plain to some, I really like this dress, and it looks great on Felicity. I'd give it an A.

Feclity's Rose Garden/Original Meet Outfit Grade: A + I have always loved this outfit. Some people (Mattel, cough cough) might think it's boring, but I think it's a perfect every-day exploring outfit. It really makes sense for a little girl in her position - the color would hide most dirt, the roses are a sweet but not overly-frivolous touch. Plus, it just looks great with Felicity's hair color and complexion. The detail and quality are top notch. The outfit came with a plain shift, shoes, stockings, and a cream ribbon. You can't really see the shoes in this picture, but you can see the thickness of the stockings.

I bought this dress when it first went on sale on the AG site. I don't remember why I bought it, as I don't have Felicity and like her current meet outfit better. However, this piece has come to grow on me. It is a really pretty pattern, and I really like how it fits on the dolls, with the bottom half of the dress going out. The material is not thin at all (I'm assuming all these are older Mattel pieces, as her meet outfit changed in 2005). Like with certain other historical outfits, I wish it came with shoes & socks, but it's understandable why it doesn't considering it was formerly a meet outfit. The ribbon is gorgeous IMO. The ruffles are also really cute.
A+ for quality

Felicity's original Rose Garden Gown has a nice dark floral print and attached ruffles. It really needs her stays underneath to fit properly. The velcro is a little too soft and skinny to stay closed. The dress is kind of baggy and looks better with her stays underneath to give her the proper look, though she doesn't like her stays so she doesn't wear them often. Grade: A Cap

The velcro is a little too soft and skinny to stay closed. I really have to disagree. I think the dress fits quite well with only a shift underneath. It is a bit loose without anything at all, but I think that's because it was designed for a PM-sized doll and the shift to go under. I've also never had any trouble with the velcro staying shut.

It's not form-fitting on the doll, so make sure she wears stays and shift, otherwise it will seem large. These are the only photos I have:

I got this dress second-hand, so I don't know if it's pre-Mattel or Mattel. Anyway, on to the review:
Overall: A The bodice fits fairly well om my skinnier Mattel doll. Id does have some extra room, but it looks fine. The skirt could use some pocket hoops to make it stand out, but I don't have any, and it looks fine without them too. The fabric is pretty, and it's supposed to look woven. The colors look great with a lot of different colorings of dolls, but it isn't really a mix and match piece in any way. I like that it has side slits for pockets.

I bought a used Mattel (i think) Rose Garden Gown off of ebay in early 2009
so this oufit is suppossed to come with the meet shoes, socks, shift and ribbon. since i bought mine used though all i got was the dress and the ribbon (which i have somehow lost already. It was right and identical to the current meet ribbon with the Traveling gown).
As you can see, Lissis looks so wonderful in this dress. The colors compliment her perfectly. It is simple enough to use for everyday and has such meaning in her story, which even says that it was her favorite dress.
The dress itself is very nice. The sleeves are 3/4 and have very large ruffles on the ends as well as the collar. the fabric is thick and feels as if it would be rather warm but not too thick as to be too warm for summer. This dress also has the pocket slits on both sides.
A close up of the detail of the dress. the pattern and ruffle of the collar. I have to admit i did not know that there were tiny blue pinstripes on the dress. i must admit that these seemed very odd to me when i first saw the dress in person, but now i am used to it and i think looks very nice now.
Overall: I give this dress an A+++++. i love this dress. it is a perfect piece and i really think that no Lissie collection is complete without it. Not only is the dress so very pretty and well made it is a huge part of at least the first book in Lissie's story collection (i have only read the first two stories sorry guys)

My Rose Garden dress is one of two gowns that came with the Felicity my stepsister gave me last year before she went to college. I believe it's a pre-Mattel version. It's really my favorite of all her outfits. It's pretty without being too fancy, girly without being too ruffly, the colors looks sensational on Felicity, and the pattern is lovely and very Colonial. (The colors are favorites of mine, too, which may be why I like this so much.) My Felicity wears this as her fall/school outfit.

I adore this dress. I bought this last year from a board member, before I even had any thought of buying a Felicity, just because I liked it. My Nicki has worn it several times as a dress-up piece. I love the feel of the fabric, and I love the pattern. The colors are muted, but pretty. I think it flatters Lissie far more than the current meet dress. This seems like a nice, versatile dress. I'm glad I have it for my Lissie who is on the way. A+

Just another picture of the shift. It's near impossible to decide what is the front and what is the back. Pick one. It looks like Petra's about to be baptised.

This is the iconic Felicity dress to me, as I remember when she first came out and I saw her catalog and Meet book cover. Its simply beautiful and my favorite of her dresses. I love how it looks on BF Felicity. http://instagram.com/p/CoqBrx-y6Fz

My favorite of the meet outfit by far. The is perfectly period accurate and even the same fabric as that used in Williamsburg. Mine is made in West Germany and the pattern is lined up perfectly.
