*This outfit was worn by Felicity in the DVD Felicity: An American Girl Adventure*
Includes: - Tea lesson gown - Straw hat - Slippers
I really love this shade of yellow, it isn't too bright and pastel-ish, but its not too dark either. The coral pink details accent the yellow very nicely. The dress is actually two shades of yellow, a darker yellow backdrop with lighter yellow stripes. The straw hat is very cute, although I feel its a little "too frilly". I don't like the slippers all that much, it just made the whole outfit "too matchy", I think slippers in a neutral tan almost yellow would have looked nice and instead of rosettes on them, a brocade design in a stitch that slightly contrasts the slippers would have looked lovely. The slippers do stay on well enough, they're not just soft cloth, they are a bit stiff since they don't have backs to them.

Tea Lesson Gown & Straw Hat
Grade: A
Pro's: I really love this outfit! The color, the detail! The hat is adorable and authentic looking. The dress and hat are very nicely made.
Con's: The shoes are not authentic looking, and are cheap slip on's. Don't buy this outfit for the shoes! It looks OK with her meet shoes though, and some of the other shoes in her/Elizabeth's collection(s).
Detailed Review: The color of the dress is very pretty. The yellow is very flattering on Felicity and compliments her eyes and hair color. I really like it! The hat is straw but very cute and durable, and it is accented with beautiful coral flowers. I chose to put Elizabeth's tea lesson mob cap underneath the hat for a more time-period authentic look. This outfit is a must-have for any Felicity lover!
I got this dress yesterday and like it very much. I did notice that it doesn't have the pocket slits though. I thought only Elizabeth's dresses had detail that missing.
It isn't accurate--the style is a bit late for Lissie at that age, and it isn't in as many pieces as it would have been. She also needs to wear stockings with it, and a mob cap, like Marisol Grace Girl posted. So for accuracy: D- For style, quality, and cuteness: A. A+ if it cost a bit less.
Can't believe I have not gotten around to grade this outfit yet.
Anyhow, I like the way it looks on Felicity. Yellow is not an easy color to pull off- but the shade of this dress, combined with the coral pink accents, do look quite nice on Lissie. I like how the style looks as well. A for the dress.
The shoes will not stay on her. So I do not put them on her.
I like the hat. I do not know if she needs a cap below it or not- but my Lissie hardly ever wears caps.
It's cute and worth the retail price, considering how much you get and the detailing. (All those flowers on the hat are attached by hand.) I don't know about historical accuracy though...but I can see what kind of fashion they are trying to mimic. The problem AG faced was that to be historically accurate, there would have been too many pieces, so they made everything un-detachable (the kerchief and petticoat).

The Dress: Adorable!! The detailing is beautiful. The Hat: Easy to stay on, matches the dress perfectly. The Shoes: Very cute. Just a little hard to get on.

I can live with this dress being all of one piece; it would be complicated otherwise. I do think the skirt should be longer, and the cunning slippers needed to be wide enough to be worn with socks. They wouldn't likely look as dainty but too bad. Lissie wouldn't have shown bare ankles. We use other mob caps from our collection under the straw hat.
This dress has risen in price from $28 to $32. It's not a must-have in my opinion but it's a nice alternative dress for Felicity if you don't have some of her retired, more historically accurate gowns. Even at $32, it is well-made with lots of details. The hat is the best part!
I received Felicity's Tea Lesson Gown and Straw Hat in February 2009.
This set includes a one piece dress, a large straw hat and shoes that resemble slippers.
My overall first impression of this dress (not having seen the movie before i received it nor having read most of Felicity's stories) is that it is very cute. It has a lovely bright spring feeling to it.
(sorry about the darkness of the picture)
The dress is one piece. The scarf is sewn onto the gown with the rosettes in the front
(sorry about the darkness of the picture)
The scarf is attached to either side of the of the Velcro in the back. (it is soft Velcro)
(sorry about the darkness of the picture)
The scarf is not attached all the way around the neck of dress. it has pre-indented folds that do stay in place. i have not had any trouble keeping the scarf in place while Felicity is wearing the dress. I have, however, accidentally stuck Lissie's arm through the hole several times and think that a small child yanking on it would present potential to tear.
This is a close up of the rosettes that hold the "scarf" in place and also the ribbon that ties the fake bodice together, it is sewn down.
This is a closeup of the flower stitching, ribbon and lace that lines the divide in the dress. The stitching in very well done. lovely in fact. the lace is very thing and probably not real lace. i do not know though i am definitely not a fabric expert.
This is the straw hat. As one can see it is quite large, but fits Lissie very well. It sits on top of her head (one could fit a mob cap very nicely underneath it). The ribbon that ties the hat on is pale yellow and is 18 1/4 inches or about 46 centimeters. It quite long and looks rather funny going down to Lissie's feet. I also think the ribbon is a bit big and out of scale for her width wise (1 1/2 inches or 4 centimeters).
There are 6 bows around the crown of the straw hat. 3 of them have rosettes stitched in the middle of them.
There ribbon stitched around the outside rim of the straw hat as well.
The shoes are slippers. They are the same color salmon pink as the rosettes and ribbon on the rest of the outfit. I really like the slippers. I have tried them on both with and without socks and find either works well. They also fit on PM feet quite well.
Overall Lissie look lovely in the gown and i give it an A-, the grade would be better, but i do not like that the pocket slits are missing, the gown is a bit short and the ribbon on the hat has odd proportions. Otherwise this gown is lovely and perfect for spring.

With the announcement of Felicity's retirement I got off the fence and finally purchased this outfit. I am so glad that I did.
When worn with Felicity's undergarments this outfit is stunning! It has so much body to it. The fabric is stiff (in a good way) enough to hold shape. The embroidery is so pretty. The little flowers are lovely, and the hat looks gorgeous on Felicity. The ribbon on the hat is full.
Nothing about this outfit is skimpy - which is what I've been thinking about AG outfits in general lately
I'd definitely snatch this up before it goes on ice. It might just be my favorite Felicity outfit.

I was surprised with how much I like this outfit. It's really pretty! The gown's material is great, thick and doesn't feel cheap. The color is lovely on Lissie. And the hat, frankly, is the stuff my geeky little dreams are made of. I like to put the lace cap from the gala gown under the hat just for that period appropriate detailed sort of look.
The shoes are okay. They're pretty, but it's hard to get them on over stockings. And my Lissie never goes without stockings, so the shoes have to be almost forced. The dress is also a tad shorter than I'd like.
I'd give this set an A-.
ETA: I notice that most people tie the ribbon on the hat behind her head. This looks better, but I can never get it to stay on like that. My Lissie's head is just slippery or rounder or something, I guess (lol).
Not sure this adds anything, but an extra picture never hurt anyone:
I actually liked this dress pretty well; I only sold it because I sold Felicity. It's an unusual set of colors (for AG) that go nicely together. I'm kind of a sucker for the peachy color...
