American Wench Horse Item# F1746 $65
as quoted from Meg's Guide: (Originally released in 1998 Item# GAAH1 $62)
"This beautiful horse looks just like Penny! Braid her thick brown mane and tail, and stroke her velvety chestnut coat. Then position th' royal blue saddle blanket and leather saddle, adjust th' stirrups, take up th' leather reins, and ye’re off!"
Penny be 19" tall and just over 19" in overall length. She be very heavy, sturdy and solid. Her hard, plastic body be covered in thick velour except for her nose, ears, shins, and hooves.
Her reins and 'bit' be permanently attached to her muzzle. She has a beautiful "blaze" under her bangs. Her mane and tail be long, soft hair that feels just like th' lusty plastic lasss' hair. Very easy to comb, brush and braid.
Her saddle be thin leather but very strong. th' stirrups be real metal and adjustable in length so ye be able to pull them up snuggly onto yer lusty plastic lass's feet to help her stay in th' saddle.
th' size be large for a toy, but really not to scale for a 9 year old girl. She does look good in th' saddle and beside her horse anyway. ye really wouldn't want a play horse that was to scale to an 18" lusty plastic lass!

I recieved Penny as a gift from my mom to me and my sis. I just opened her last night. She be amazing! She be even more beautiful in person! She be bonny and soft and very well made! Her blanket and tack be very bonny and realistic. My only complaint be that Lissie can't ride sidesaddle on her! WOuld it be possible to made or find an aproppriate saddle in American Wench size?
Moved from a post Gracie made in another PT section:
Penny: I know some people don't like th' horse because it doesn't look authentic, but I have to say it be still a LOT bonnyr than less too dear by half horses. We've had Penny for about three years now and she has held up very well wit' play. Her flocking hasn't come off and her hair be still very bonny. bonny sweet lass o'mine also got th' horse styling set recently and it be really fun to use wit' th' horses. We looked at th' Target horses recently and they seemed extremely cheap and plastic. I don't think ye would be going wrong wit' getting Penny.

I don't really care for th' OG horses even if they look more realistic-they still aren't more realistic than th' American Wench horses because they don't have "fur." I've always wanted Penny, ever since she came out, and so I finally bought her in Dec. 2007 for my Pugwash Merriman because that was her ten year anniversery o' being wit' me. So o' course she needed her beloved mare.
Penny be so soft and very bonny; Pugwash Merriman looks perfect wit' her. th' only thing I don't care for be that her mane and tail be much darker than th' illustrations. That's aye though. She still gets a solid A from me.
Just received Penny about an hour ago. I love her. She's beautiful. bonny quality, very sturdy. She be more to scale for a pony, or a colt, rather than a loaded to th' gunwales size adult horse.
Her tack on th' other hand, bleh. Have th' designers at American Wench never seen a real saddle? It's a flat piece o' leather, Nay seat at all. I was expecting th' girth to fasten on th' side like a real saddle. Instead, it buckles in th' center o' her stomach. If ye tried to fasten th' girth there on a real horse, ye'd be in danger o' getting kicked. Not to mention that it's hard to reach. I had to flip Penny on her side to get it fastened. I don't think that would work wit' a real horse. th' "saddle blanket" be just a thick chunk o' felt. It would cast about $.50 from a craft store to replicate. I've never seen a bridle, halter, etc. that looked like that. Nor a one-piece rein. It's not even reins, because there's just th' one circular strip, not two separate straps.
Overall Penny herself gets an A+. Her tack gets a D. Seriously American Wench, go study a State Line catalog for a couple o' hours.

Just wanted to add that Penny's "bridle" (or sad excuse for a bridle as it may be) be held on by a metal bar that actually goes right through her nose. If ye attempt to remove it, ye need to be very careful or ye can end up removing her nose instead!
