This is by far one of the best AG sets ever. Everything is so autehntic, right down to tiny little details. Each piece is made from real metal or wood and the sansa (thumb piano) can really be played. The only tiny quibble is that the beans are made from plastic and so small, they are likely to get lost. This set has tons of play value because people can play with it too! A++

You can tighten the sansa. It is meant for the keys to be loosened and tightened to make different sounds. Mine was an ebay purchase NIB and is just perfect. Don't be disappointed in the set, be disappointed in whoever sold it to you.
Are the beans plastic? Mine vary in size and have hulls and are real, or so I always thought until reading this post! I only have the mancala game and the myorama puzzle so far. They are both great quality. The mancala beans are stored in a pink flannel bag that self ties and keeps track of those pesky beans when not in use. A+ for the mancala game and the myorama puzzle.
I just examined my mancala beans with a jeweler's loop and confirmed that my beans are different shapes and vary slightly in size. I swear they are real beans! I'm putting one in H2O to see what happens (my son's science fair skills must be rubbing off on me!)

My box for the puzzle also fell apart, but it was perfect again with a little Elmer's wood glue. the glue gets old on these items. (Even my Felicity's desk fell completely unglued and fell apart one time, but wood glue fixed that also.)
This is one of my favorite doll accessory sets. My geeky musician husband tuned the sansa and it's quite a sight to see him sitting there playing tunes on it. I'll spare you photos of that. But here are a few more photos of the individual items, with dolls (Addy and starearedkid's Traveling Emma, who was visiting 1863 for a day) for scale comparison.
And the myriorama:
The box housing the myriorama is indeed flimsy, and since this is now an older, retired set, it might need some touching up. That doesn't detract from the beauty and playability of the set, which rates an A+ from me.
This set does not come up often on eBay and when it does you can likely expect to pay dearly for it.

This is one of the few accessory sets I had when I was younger and it's still one of my favorites. The beans that came with mine are definitely seem real. They don't look or feel like plastic at all, and they vary in size and shape.

I received this set some time back. I have everything but the bag and the beans (but Addy and Kirsten used some real beans from the kitchen to play on her birthday). All the pieces are so darling. Addy looks happy playing mancala, and the puzzle is really sweet. I personally had a great time with the sansa, lol.
