This outfit is worn by Addy in the book Addy Saves the Day. Released in 1994, retired in 2014.
Addy could hardly wait for the day of the church fair to arrive! She wore a charming summer dress sprinkled with a field full of tiny flowers, and a narrow-brimmed straw hat. There’s a brooch of little berries to pin at Addy’s collar. Berry pretty, indeed!
Grade: A+
Addy's summer dress is made of a sturdy summer cotton broadcloth. The skirt is full and the styling on the bodice is quite detailed. The finishing touch is the berry broach - the outfit is worth it just for this item.
The hat is the nice, small weave straw with a checked ribbon. It has a black elastic band to help keep it on - highly appreciated!
I did not like this dress in the catalogue, but when I saw it in person I had to have it!

Addy's Summer Dress and Straw Hat Grade: A - This outfit is really adorable. I love the print, which suits the time period yet is still cheery. The broach adds a nice touch, though I do think it's fragile and will probably fall off of a pin easily. Anyone getting this outfit for a young girl might be advised to remove the broach and put it somewhere safe (like a jewelry box) until the girl is older. The hat is a nice accessory. Honestly, at this point, I feel like I have oodles of straw hats from America Girl. I only start minding when it seems they recycle the same hat with different ribbons. However, this one is a little shallower than some of the others, and the checked ribbon is a cute detail. I think it's quite authentic to the time and it's different enough to other straw hats so as not to feel redundant.

This dress is a very sweet, classic dress that works for a girl from any era. It has a small flowered print and a matching ribbon at the elasticized waist. It comes with a removable broach, which is an actual pin. I love that the broach is a real pin though I have never removed it. The hat is made from sturdy straw and has a sweet black and white checked ribbon around it. The bow on the hat goes in front, not in back. The hat has an elastic strap to keep the hat on Addy's head. The elastic should go behind her head, not under her chin. The elastic gets stretched out after awhile, but you don't really need it. Addy's hair is so big and poofy, it's hard to keep the hat on. This isn't my favorite dress because of the berry pink flowers, though it is well made and holds up over the years. Grade:A

Although for Addy's period, the hat bow of the hat goes in the front, it also works being in the back, for other times. Addy's summer outfit is pretty! I had always thought it was more of a sandy brown color on off-white but it's berry colored. I guess I just hadn't paid too much attention. It's a lovely dress for summertime and looks great on Addy or even Kirsten. Mostly Addy though, lol! The brooch adds a nice touch as does the ribbon on the hat. I got this from the 2007 Over_18 holiday swap and I couldn't have been more pleased; Addy and I were so excited to get it, especially since I had just gotten Addy on my birthday (she was a graduation gift I got to open a semester early). Kirsten in the dress: Addy in her summer outfit: The hat sometimes likes to fall off so if you have Addy's hair down, you could try pulling a couple of the sides of her hair in front of the elastic-this also helps hide the elastic in photos. The boots add a nice touch to complete the whole outfit! A++++++++++++

This was one of my first Addy outfits from ebay in 2006 and frankly I was underwhelmed. The collar wouldn't lie flat because the neckline was so tight. The skirt was awkwardly short and it just looked frumpy. It was labeled Pleasant Company though, so I guessed that was just the way it was "supposed" to be. Silly me. The canvas boots, which I subsequently purchased new from AG, were a yellowish color that made the whole ensemble look ridiculous. I liked the berry pin and straw hat though. So, I recently purchased just the dress with a Pleasant Co tag from a seller on ebay and am SO relieved. The bodice and collar fit my Addy perfectly and the skirt is a length that looks youthful, not skimpy. I love this dress now and Addy does too! I paired it with Kirsten's red boots and Addy is jaunty in her kitchen.

I like this dress a lot. Cute, perfect for summer because of the cut and material. I just purchased it this year and it fits my PM Addy fine.
My only complaint is with the hat. It doesn't seem to want to stay on very well. I've tried the elastic strap under her chin and behind her head, and neither way really made a difference. I like the look of the hat, and it is quite period appropriate. Although I wish she had a hat with a wider brim... you know, so it could actually shade her face from the sun. But that's just sort of nitpicky.

Since Addy is my newest historical, she doesn't have a lot of clothes compared to Kirsten and Felicity. So whenever I have some extra money I try and get something for her. With summer fast approaching (while other may say summer is already here, I don't feel like it is because I'm still teaching), I figured it was time for Addy to get a summery outfit. So, without further ado, here are pics of my Addy in her Summer Dress: photos.app.goo.gl/1xN5XLf1gJnCnoSL7

This is a cute dress. It's not my favorite Addy dress; it's not my least favorite, either.
Positives: I adore the pattern. It's super cute and the colors look good on Addy. I like that the fabric isn't see-through; I was disappointed by the see-through fabric on the Flower Picking/Kite Flying outfit. The skirt is nice and full, unlike some of Addy's newer dresses. The hat adds a nice touch and I really like that it has an elastic at the bottom to help it stay on Addy's head -- the fact that other straw hats, like Kirsten's, don't stay on really bothers me. Finally, the cherries on the collar add a cute touch.
Negatives: The only real negative I have for this outfit is the fact that the collar doesn't seem to want to lay flat.
Grade A.

This is the grey market version (nothing at the neck, no hat): I did not have this at the same time as the AG one I now have but I don't think you'd be able to tell the difference, down to the Pleasant Company tag, other than the missing brooch. (What's grey market? Check the FAQs.)

I bought his last year. On my dress the berries are attached to the dress and not a separate pin. The dress is very well made. The hat is cute, but will not stay on my #57's head. C for the hat A for the dress

A friend of mine has this and I was recently able to see it. This set is really adorable. I like the dress print and the hat is really sweet with its little checked ribbon.
