Review: Holy moly! This is SOO CUTE! Again, another set I got very excited about! The fish are rubbery and their tails are flippy because the rubber is thinner there. The baskets are super cute and the little grasshoppers and frog are simply precious (even got my hubby's approval!) The fishing pole is a bit fragile. It comes in two pieces and you just put them together (it doesn't snap or screw on though) The fishing line is white thread and there is a cute little cork piece and black hook (plastic) so you can pretend you've caught some trout! There is a little loop on the trout mouths so you can attach it to the hook on the fishing pole.

I bought this set with the CODE last year. I finally got around to getting Kirsten's Summer dress and straw hat last month. I love this set, but agree that the fishing pole is a bit more fragile than I would like. I wish it snapped into place. I was kinda leery letting my DD play with it.

A note on play value: My best friend had this set when we were 8-10 years old. I think pieces were used pretty much in whatever scenario we were playing--the dolls caught fish, certainly, but they also: ~sold fish to one another ~used the baskets to carry accessories ~used the bugs to scare Tara's dolls ~ate the fish ~had the frog be a prince So this is a very versatile set and most of it holds up well to play, although I recall that the fishing line got tangled a lot. I recomend it. A+ for play value

Cute, but the baskets and rod are very fragile. At some point I had to retie the string. You kind of have to wrap the string gently around the pole or it will eventually get hopelessly entangle. The trout look realistic and can hook onto the fishing line. The grasshoppers are out of proportion and look like some plastic toy you can get from a Science Museum gift shop. I still would recommend this set especially if you can do an outdoor photo shoot.

This is a sweet set, but the play value is low because it's so fragile. On my set, the loop keeping the lid on the big basket broke off; the hook on the fishing rod snapped in two; one of the fish's tails has torn. I love the bugs and frog, and the little cork on the end of the fishing rod.

I really like this set as well. I purchased it secondhand, and I only really use it for display purposes. So far, it's held up okay.
