*This outfit was worn by Kirsten in the book Kirsten Learns a Lesson, Kirsten’s Surprise and the short story “Kirsten and the Chippewa”. I really like the simplicity of this dress. I've never liked her school dress much, because I find it dull, basically a red version of her meet dress (and who wears division signs? I mean really?). While that may be realistic for the time period, I like this dress soooooooo much more, though it is still relatively simple and understated.. The fabric is a really beautiful color. The stipes are also a nice contrast to the teal. They're sort of purple-y and darker teal. The ruffles on the sleeves are real cute along with the simple colar. Ribbons, are... ribbons, though I do like the woven pattern of them. I really like the sleeves on the dress. I also like that the collar is cream, and really stands out from the rest of the dress. Grade: B+ for the price, though it is the dress and ONLY the dress (well, and some ribbons), which isn't much to write home about. I like accessories.

I LOVE this dress. The color is really pretty on Kirsten, and I love the style. However, the sleeves are a tiny bit tight on my PM doll. They still fit, though. It looks very nice with Kirsten's work boots and I like the matching hair ribbons. It's definitely one of my favorites. A

The color is definitely my favorite aspect of this dress. Although the sleeves are a bit tight, it is otherwise a great dress. I am glad I kept it. It's in my siggie pic. A.

This is a sweet dress and the sleeve detail adds something visually interesting to what is otherwise a simple utilitarian work dress. Mine is pretty old and the fabric is incredibly soft. I can just imagine her pulling this comfy dress on to do her chores. The retail price of $20 for dress and cream ribbons seems about right. The dress itself gets an A from me for durability, style, and playability. I have had no fit issues, but both the dress and my doll are PM versions. And, some additional photos with Mia wearing the dress....although its color is truest in the above photos.

I love this dress! It's one of the best AG's made. I think it looks best on green eyed dolls though. It's well made, and the detail on the sleeves is so cute. Definately an A+ from me too!

I love this dress. Actually, I like all of the work dresses and wish AG hadn't discontinued them! The fabric is softer than I expected it to be, and I like the colors of the stripes that run through it (which I never really noticed until I saw it in person). This is actually one of my favorite dresses on Kirsten, I love the way the color looks with her hair/eye color.
I definitely give this one an A.

The dress - this is probably our favorite cold-weather outfit for Kirsten! The aqua color is beautiful, so pretty in person. I think it goes fine with Kirsten's eye color and her hair shines against the creamy muslin collar. There's a tiny "plum" stripe running lengthwise through the (very very soft) fabric. Kirsten wears this dress [/i]a lot[/i] in her books, but the doll-version also has added sleeve ruffles, which I really like for their fancy touch. The dress looks nice with Kirsten's two-tone boots. A+
The hair ribbons - these are very nice, thick and woven like her meet ribbons. They are a loose weave though, and can tend to fray. We actually don't use these ribbons much with this outfit as we usually pin Kirsten's braids up, but they match well with this and also the summer outfit. A
Here's a factoid I learned from terristouch: During the mid c19, green dye was not perfected, and to obtain green clothes had to be dyed twice, once yellow and once blue. This made the clothing more expensive, so if Kirsten had a green dress at all it certainly would not have been for work!

This dress is far too nice for work, I think! It has a really exquisite cut with the ruffles at the drop shoulders. The color is also quite lovely, a muted green with tiny stripes made of burgundy pinprick dots. They look like shadow stripes in the photographs, but they actually are a print! The hair ribbons that come with this area great color! When I redo Kirsten's hair in its original looped-braid style, I'm planning on making these the default hair ribbons since they will match all of her outfits. Here is a picture of my Kirsten wearing this lovely dress!

The dropped sleeves of this dress make it perfect for Addy. Her hoops fit under the skirt too (pictured here.)
