Released 1990, retired 2006.
There were no desks in Kirsten’s one room school, so she sat on a split-log bench cut from a tree in the forest. A stream ran past Powderkeg School, and Kirsten loved to have Miss Winston send her to fetch a bucket of water so the class could have a cool drink from the ladle. A trip to the stream also meant she might see her friend Singing Bird.
I got the bench on eBay and love it. It's beautifully made and very sturdy. Now I need to get teh bucket and ladle since AG doesn't have it as a replacement. I was wondering if anyone else's was lightly varnished - including the bark! I guess it keeps the bark from flaking off but it looks a bit odd, especially since the table and chairs aren't varnished!

I just recently received this from a board member and I was surprised how heavy it is. My bark is not pulling from the log but rather appears to be one solid object. The bucket is a whole piece of wood and not slabs like it appears to be. I give this an A.

The bench is great! A+ for this set. It is appropriately rustic and the metal banded bucket and wooden dipper with the leather ladle is excellent. Can you imagine having to sit on such a thing for hours at a time, though?
It works great with her school story outfit and accessories.
