*This outfit was worn by Samantha in the 1986 Edition of the book Meet Samantha*
PM, 95
The Good: Love the style, with the Bertha collar. I also really like that it's white, with pink details, it's very pretty. Satin ribbon is very pretty (this one can match a few of her other outfits quite well).
The Bad: I think it looks funny without the collar. Doesn't really match her meet shoes very well.
Rating: ****1/2, A

I think this dress is very pretty and feminine. It can be frilly or not so frilly because of the removable collar. I don't find it too thin but my Samantha is white bodied. I kind of wish the pink trim was removable too. The collar has a wide lace trim, pink ribbon and a little rosette. The collar really dresses up the dress for a more elegant look. My Sam prefers it without the collar and it looks great with her non-AG white high button shoes.

I love this dress; it looks like the dresses in some of the photos in the "Peek into the Past" sections. The tucking detail on the dress, under the Bertha, is a nice touch.
However, the material is extremely thin - thinner even than the white material on Nellie's Meet dress - and apparently always has been. I compared my version to a friend's pre-Mattel. I think I need to get Sam's lacey whites so that she doesn't outrage modesty!

One of my favorite dresses. Absolutely beautiful and feminine without being too frilly. It has lasted me quite a bit and has not gotten dirty. I like the removable collar. A+

And here is a picture of the outfit. I do not know why the sun streak happened. But you can see the dress and collar and hairbow. I love the way it looks on my Samantha.

I think I need to get Sam's lacey whites so that she doesn't outrage modesty! you will have to pull an Agnes & Agatha and cut the pink ribbon off the hem of the petticoat, though, because otherwise it will show through. I ended up with two Lacey Whites sets because of this, so Sam can wear this dress without being see-through and also not show the ribbon through the dress.

The Bad: I think it looks funny without the collar. Doesn't really match her meet shoes very well. Samantha's White Party Slippers were originally meant to wear with her Tea Dress. From the 1993 Christmas catalogue: "Samantha's shiny white patent slippers are trimmed with bows that match her tea dress. How pretty!"

I just tried this on my doll for the first time tonight. For anyone who is debating about the outfit or whose dolls haven't worn it yet....Don't forget that there's velcro on the wrists!! It's a no brainer if you know it's there, but I could see seams getting stretched if you didn't know about it.

I picked up this dress on EBAY from the original owner. It's tagged Pleasant Company 1993. I don't know if there's a difference between the Pre Mattel and Mattel versions. I love the simplicity of this dress. The lace detailing is wonderful and I like that it's white with pink accents. It's beautiful and feminine without being obnoxious or too girly. I give it a solid A.

This dress is really pretty. I agree that's pretty and sweet and feminine but not too girly. The bertha collar really makes it look special, but the simple look without the collar is also lovely. I love it with or without the collar, and the pink and white party shoes complete the look. It also looks really cute with the rosebud circlet from the birthday outfit. The only flaw would be that the material is really thin. My Sam doesn't have lacy whites, but she does have a slip and it's pretty see through without it. A-

Love this dress It's such a nice spring/summer dress and it doesn't seem too see-through to me. I think it looks great with or without the collar.
