This Special Limited Edition outfit was released in 1997. In 2005, a similar version was released as the 1904 Bathing Outfit, which is reviewed HERE.
If Samantha wanted to take a dip at Piney Point, she wore a bathing costume that looked a lot like a dress! Double-breasted with polka-dotted trim, Samantha's two-piece bloomer suit with gathered overskirt comes with matching, polka-dotted shoes and a straw hat to shade her face. In 1904, bathing suits were heavy wet, so ring buoys, or "life savers," were not a top but a necessity! Keep Samantha's buoy close at hand - just in case!Samantha's Limited Edition Bathing Costume $28 SLO Grade: B Pretty little set that I really enjoy for her. I love the life ring and straw hat. the polka dot slippers have a hard time fitting my white bodied doll. The outfit fit just fine except that it shows her white body at the neckline. Lovely still! Skirt is detachable.

I love this bathing costume. It's made from soft, light cotton and has faux buttons down the front. The buttons are small and just the right scale. The skirt snaps over the jumpsuit with a real snap. The little bathing slippers are made from canvas like material and come with cardboard supports to keep their shape and my Samantha can wear them with the cardboard inside. The straw hat is made from real straw and the blue/white ribbon around the trim matches the trim on the bathing dress. The life ring is made from heavy Styrofoam is nothing special. It's not very sturdy so be careful how you store it. This version of the outfit doesn't come with tights but Samantha's black tights look good with it. This outfit is a bit too big for the skinny/thin limbed newer girls but looks cute just the same. Grade: A

A little plus abouth the swimming outfit: I use the blue skirt from this set (with opening turned to the back) with Sam's Bicycling outfit top and black tights, and it all looks very lovely together. (The tiny polka dots don't show because the top lays down over them.) I just never cared much for the bicycling bloomers and using Sam's swimming skirt lets me really enjoy the look of the bicycling top so much more.

This little gem was a surprise from my grandmother just prior to her passing. I wanted both Sam and Lissie's but I had just recieved Lissie, and she had no extra clothes. So I ordered hers. When the box arrived, Not only was Lissie's there but so was Sam's! *squee*! That touched me, since my grandmother didn't have a lot of money. I love how the skirt on this is removable! The slippers are darling! I want to find the umbrella from the re-issue to complete! Definitely, an A+!

Something I thought I'd never get my hands on. I got this off CL for $30 which I believe was a steal. It's in great condition and is adorable. Good quality. I used Samantha's meet tights, but wish it came with its own pair. The outfit is a deep blue, low key and timeless. The hat is kinda fragile, don't throw it around and it will be fine. And take care with the lifesaver to not nick chunks out of the styrofoam.

I don't have this, but I have seen it and it is very sweet. The straw hat is darling and the whole outfit looks so accurate. The life ring is the perfect addition.
