Samantha wore this dress in the DVD Samantha: An American Girl Holiday and a version is also shown in the short story "Samantha Saves the Wedding." It was released in 2004 and retired in 2008 with the first archival of Samantha's collection.
This lilac and lace gown has a full-length skirt - a rare treat for a girl Samantha’s age. The hat has a pink silk flower to match her bouquet.
This is a really pretty dress in person. It is made out of some lavender silk-like mateirial, but I'm certain it's neither silk nor the mateirial used for Felicity and Elizabeth's dresses. At the base of the dress there are two frills. The lace at the bottom is part of an attached petticoat which is mainly white cotton. The Velcro on this dress is not the normal kind which snags easily, it dosen't snag at all so Sam's hair is safe. There are lacy frills at the beginning of the sleeves, and there are elasticated frills (not lacy) on the cuffs. The dress is pretty study and is not liable to rip.
The hat is similar to Nellie's hat if you don't look at the decorations, but parts of it are trasperent so that it looks like lace. The band is of the same kind of "silk" as the dress, and there is a flower, of the same kind as in the bouquet, on it. The lace is also study but keep it away from Velcro that easily snags, unlike the kind on the dress.
The flowers on the bouquet are generic AG flowers. In the center are pink roses. These center roses are framed by a white flower and leaves. It is all wrapped in a paper doily. Underneath that is a dowel wrapped in white ribbon. To this some wide white ribbon is tied in a bow. There is also some thin lavender ribbon, not in a bow. The white ribbon has more of those small white flowers on it, and there is an elastic strap on the opposite side of the dowel so the doll can hold it. The bouquet can also be kept in a doll room by putting it in a tiny flowerpot or vase.
All in all I give this outfit an A. I would have given it an A+ if the shoes were included. I think for the price-$26-they ought to have been included.
Hope this helps,
Sitara
