These shoes are made from stiff placticy leather, similar to Kirsten's boots but more stuff. They button on the sides with faux pearl buttons and look very authentic. They are tough to get on Samantha's feet, though. I think these boots are OK and a nice addition to Samantha's outfits, but I don't like the stiffness of the "leather." I prefer the off brand white high button shoes that feel more like real leather. Grade: B+
These are very nice but one of the buttons came off shortly after I got them and I had to sew it back on. I've since been terrified of putting them on or taking them off Samantha because I'm afraid another will fall off. The thread sewn through the pearls feels loose on a lot of them. Also, the paint chips off of the buttons really easily. But I really like these other than that because they're the only high button shoes they have for Samantha. They go well with other outfits besides the summer outfit.
The boots don't seem tight at all on my dolls. I find them very easy to get on. I also had a button pop off, and I lost the pearl, so I am scared of another falling off. But other than that, I can't find much to complain about. They're really cute!

I would give the boots a B. Mostly because the day they arrived the top button came off. My mom and I had to sew the buttons tighter. And the "pearl" flaked off after some time. But they are awfully cute!

I love love love these boots! Mine are 15 years old and the buttons are still tight tight tight! The pearlescent coating came off after about three years. I don't remember ever having trouble putting them on, but I suppose maybe when they were stiff and new I did. I love them - and they go great with her school dress. They are my second favorite Sam shoes. grade - A- because of the pearlescent coating issue
I am going though this section and thought Id give my reviews on a few items since Im just collecting her stuff.
As to these boots LOVE EM!!!!!
And like a few have said, they go perfectly with the middy (sailor) outfit. In fact, that is what mine was wearing when I spotted her at a doll show. Needless to say I brought her home
Here is a photo I took my Samantha wearing the outfit with her One pearl button was missing on mine but it was easy enough to sew one on (got a packet of actual pearls from michael's crafts sometime back.) If anyone here loses their button and needs a replacement, LMK and I'll look for another in my box of buttons.
I found them easier to get on than Rebeccas boots with the velcro back. But yes, the pearl buttons look fragile and intimidating.
