Souvenir Set

I ordered Rebecca's Souvenir Set along with her summer dress, because I thought the souvenirs were cute and it seemed natural to get them together. They are cute, especially the carousel. I was hoping it wasn't plastic, but alas it is plastic. It plays the song "Over the Waves" (which many carousels even these days play!) and its really cute. The rest of the set is pretty much all paper, however. The seashell photo album is cardboard with black paper pages and the photographs are stickers that can be put in the album. It also has two pockets for the extra photos and the "combination ticket"- a piece of cardboard on a string. The set also includes a paper list of rides. It is a cute set but I think the price tag is quite steep for what you get. I ended up keeping it because my kids fell in love with the carousel, but otherwise I would have sent it back and waited for a sale.

Okay, this set probably ranks up there with Josefina's Chicken & Chiles set and Herb Gathering Outfit as one of the most overpriced sets AG has ever made. It sets you back as much as an outfit. And most of the set is paper.

You get: a carousel, a combination ticket, a poster, a souvenir book, and a bunch of stickers.

The carousel is the not the horrible godawful cheap hunk of plastic everyone makes it out to be. The pole in the middle is metal as are some parts of the base. The thing has heft. As mentioned above, the carousel plays "Over the Waves" and features a bunny, camel, and horse on the carousel. The carousel definitely has heft, and is well made. Like Kit's cookstove, it is metal and plastic put together.

The souvenir book is small, and has pockets. It reminds me of the small ones you can find at Michael's for dirt cheap. It is cute, but not part of a $32 set cute.

The rest of the set is paper: a poster which I'd imagine would be easy for the target audience to lose and of which isn't that remarkable; a combination ticket that is cute and appears to be of scale but DOES NOT have the funny face on it like the ones in Rebecca to the Rescue and 7 stickers that fit into the souvenir book that appear to be reprints of postcards and pictures from Rebecca's time. The poster cannot fit in the souvenir book


It is a cute set, don't get me wrong, and I love the carousel in particular, but dang is it overpriced. Wait for it to go on sale.
