I just recieved these from American Girl last week. I would definately recommend these to any Samantha collector. These are white mary jane shoes with a tiny pink ribbon attached to the strap of each shoe. The straps have a velcro closure. They easily slide onto my PM Samantha's feet. The only complaint I have is that I can see the outline of Samantha's toes through the front of the shoe. This probably won't happen with a Mattel doll with smaller feet. Grade: A  |

I have the Pre-Mattel ones bought in 1997. They have snaps that close. I like these shoes a lot. They go with both the Birthday Party and Tea dresses. Pretty and feminine while still comfortable and rather versatile.

I have the Pre-Mattel version too, and are made with a different material than the Mattel ones are. They are so Pretty and go with many different outfits.

Pre Mattel Version: AAs several other people mentioned above, the PreMattel version comes with a metal snap rather than velcro. The PM version appears to be a little sturdier, but the snaps are harder to put on/remove from a doll than the velcro. The shoes were a little difficult to put on at first, but slip on easily after wearing them a few times. They look beautiful with Samantha's Tea, Birthday, and Bridesmaid dresses. Pre-Mattel Shoes:

I just got these shoes on sale and with free shipping, so the price was right. They are very cute, especially since they match a lot of Samantha's clothes very well. She has them on now with the spring party dress, and they look great.
They didn't really interest me much for Samantha and Nellie earlier in collecting for them, but they were on sale, and they are retiring, and they are a classic part of Sam's collection, so why not?
Negative points are that they make Sam's feet look a bit small to me, and you can see the outline of her toes, as mentioned before. Plus the straps seem a bit short. On one shoe, the ribbon is a little frayed, but nothing scissors can't fix. I like the shoes, and so does Samantha, so they were worth it.
