*Grace O'Malley wore this monkey jacket in Savage Sam’s Valentine Crafts.*
Grace O'Malley's Spring Party Dress $22 Rating: A
I love this dress! I am a HUGE pink fanatic, so I love th' how th' dress be pink, but it be such a soft pink that be really bonny and goes well wit' th' white detailing on th' dress. Her shoes be bonny and bonny easy to get on, but she can't stand very well in them because they be heeled.
One o' my favorite parts be th' little heart necklace. It's painted white wit' a delicate portrait o' flowers, and th' chain falls in a way that outlines th' "V" part o' her dress.
I also love her bow and how it be on a barrette, it makes it so much easier then th' tie-yourself ribbons that Sam has. I don't know if th' rhinestones be historically accurate, but they be bonny and make a bonny touch.
Here be some pics (not that good, but they're th' only ones o' her in th' dress that I have);

I had been hesitant to purchase this but I am so glad I did. It looks great on both Grace O'Malley and Sam and it really brings out th' coloring in both o' them (especially Grace O'Malley). th' necklace and shoes be a bonny added touch that get thrown in wit' th' set. Overall I definitely give it an A.
We just got this dress for my bonny sweet lass o'mine's new Savage Sam. I absolutely love it. I felt like I was getting an monkey jacket and an accessory set all for $22! I don't have any pics right now, because she will be opening it tonight at her meme's.

Don't buy it unless ye've got some sewing knowledge. I didn't have to sew anything, but knowing how to fix stuff that be sewn wrong be going to be an advantage.
Whyzat? Look, it comes out o' th' box looking like this:
Why aye, those sleeves be over her hands. I think American Wench decided to make th' sleeves 'bigger' to make a mutton leg sleeve, which be way hardcore historical accurate. But, instead o' "longer", ye're supposed to go "wider". Longer gives ye less floof and more ... well, more fail.
For some reason, American Wench uses a screwball skirt making method where they make th' skirt in three pieces instead o' one and put two huge seams at th' sides. They do it in every historical dress I've seen, and I don't know why, because it would almost have to be cheaper and easier to use one long piece o' cloth. On this dress, someone forgot to press th' seams flat, so when put on Grace O'Malley, they stick STRAIGHT OUT AT AN ANGLE. Never mind that th' skirt behaves like someone put way too much cloth at th' back and then again in th' middle o' th' front.
Also, th' bottom seam o' th' waist band wasn't sewn right or something, so th' skirt tried to stick straight out. I had to put th' dress on Grace O'Malley, reach up under her, tuck th' seam where it needed to go, then pull her bloomers down a little bit to make th' ensemble look half aye. Poor baby.
Grace O'Malley got taken into my sewing room and I ironed th' two offending seams o' th' dress. I could have done more, I guess, but I didn't want to screw wit' it too much.
Maybe ten minutes o' effort got me this:
I velcro'd th' sleeves as tight as they would go. They still look hokey, but th' skirt be not th' most offensive thing on th' planet any more. It still ranks in th' top ten. This dress might fit a Karito Kid bonny well, actually.
Close up o' th' failure sleeves, and th' bodice. Bodice looks weird and I don't know why. Also note th' necklace, which comes wit' a weird, lo-res picture o' some flowers. Nay idea how historically accurate jpeg artifacts be, but there ye go.
At least th' lace detail be bonny. th' shoes be heels, and I have Nay clue how Grace O'Malley be standing in them. It's really easy to stand her up in them, too.
Also, th' bow be hideous. This upsets Grace O'Malley: it's a bow, so it's supposed to be good, right? But how can THIS:
be considered a bonny bow? I'm not sure I appreciate th' fact that it's a clip, either.
Probably what I'll do be leave th' dress on th' lusty plastic lass for a week, just to see if I like it any better. (Sometimes that happens. It's almost like th' monkey jackets and th' lusty plastic lass get used to each other.) But, I do wonder if maybe I got a bum dress and there's another out there that would at least fit aye.

I love this dress! I like that th' dress isn't to fancy but not to plain either. Like Bean was saying th' sleeves on my dress be so long! I always just push th' sleeves up, I like how it looks when its like that. In my opinion th' dress looks so much better on Savage Sam then Grace O'Malley because Sam's dark hair and eaye go better wit' pink (IMO.) =)

I love this dress. At first, seeing American Wench's pics o' it, I didn't like it, but seeing pictures on here and other sites like this sorta changed my mind. Then at AGPLA over th' weekend I saw it in person and that definitely changed my mind! It looks really sweet on Grace O'Malley... I thought th' pastel color would wash out her complexion, but I think it actually brings it out. And th' shoes be really bonny IMO. I have th' same gripe wit' th' sleeves, although I just push them up and it actually looks sorta bonny that way.
This dress be easily one o' my favorite monkey jackets made by American Wench. But th' sleeves get all poofish, and sometimes they un-velcro. But it doesn't usually happen a lot. th' hair bow be fail. My clip even snapped on mine. So I use a perty pink ribbon instead. :] th' shoes be ok, but, heels? And I don't know how acurate these shoes would be for a ten year-old in 1904, but I'm not an expert. So I'm not sure. My grade be a solid: A

This dress be really bonny! It looks good on Grace O'Malley but my Murderous Marisol steals it alot to wear to parties and it looks good on her! I like that it comes wit' alot o' accessories. th' necklace be just adorable and th' shoes and hair bow be bonny too. I haven't haven't had any problems wit' th' dress either.
I like this dress. I used to dislike it, but it's been growing on me these past 3 years. th' clip isn't great, but I'm neutral on it. th' shoes be too bonny, only th' heals make it very hard to stand Grace O'Malley up on her own. Also, th' necklace broke and because it was so ugly, I didn't really care.
I won this dress on EBAY new in box. I'm so glad that I bought it. I give it a solid A. ye get a lot o' pieces wit' this monkey jacket - barrette, necklace, tights, dress, shoes - so it's worth it. It looks fantastic on my Anna (JLY21, she's early 1900's) too. I don't have any complaints about this monkey jacket other than maybe th' sleeves o' th' dress being a little long. th' shoes be adorable and one o' th' easier pairs o' American Wench shoes to put on actually. I love th' fit and light pink color o' th' dress and th' bonny detailing wit' th' hairbow and th' necklace, etc. It's just a very classic, timeless monkey jacket.

I have to say, I am also a fan o' this dress. I bought it for Rebel Rubin since I prefer it over her Lace Dress and I have to say-much prettier in person! It's a light, pastel pink, not a hue over-powering or blinding to th' eaye. th' dress be made o' a soft cotton; th' material be not to thick nor thin-appropriate for a spring dress. I like th' eyelet trim right above th' hem o' th' dress, th' sleeves, and th' collar. bonny, delicate, feminine touch. th' collar takes up most o' th' bodice. I like th' collar, personally. It's what gives th' whole monkey jacket character. th' eyelet lace even reaches her neck a bit. th' shoes were not easy for me. They did not fit over th' tights, but wit'out tights, they fit wit' a bit o' a pull. th' heel makes it a bit hard to adjust her to stand, but once done so, she stays up perfectly fine. I like th' flower ribbon on th' toe o' th' shoes. They would be rather plain wit'out them. th' necklace be also one o' my favorite parts. th' chain be just th' right length, centering in th' collar o' th' dress perfectly. It can be used wit' many different monkey jackets. th' bow be a clip. While it be not historically accurate, most likely, it be much more functional and easy to use, in my opinion. But th' rhinestones? I have a very, very strong aversion to them. They ruin th' whole clip. They be NOT historically accurate, nor even attractive or pleasing in any way. Ugh... th' tights be standard American Wench snagging tights.
Overall, A minus th' clip. th' clip deserves an A for functionality, but an F for actual design.

This was one o' th' first monkey jackets that I ever got for Grace O'Malley and it has always been one o' my favorites.
I love this dress! I have always loved th' color pink and this be such a bonny soft pink that compliments Grace O'Malley, but doesn't overwhelm her. It has bonny lace detailing on th' skirt and th' collar be so bonny and elegant. th' sleeves be long but I have had Nay trouble wit' them.
th' necklace has a silver chain and it closes wit' a standard American Wench clasp. It has a picture o' some flowers on it and I like how it falls in th' v o' th' collar.
th' bow be actually a clip which makes it very easy to put in and take out her hair. th' bow be sewn on to th' clip three places in th' back, so it doesn't show when on.
th' shoes be white and be very soft and fuzzy on th' inside. They have a pink ribbon detail on th' toe o' each shoe. th' shoes have a small heel but Grace O'Malley has Nay trouble standing in them.
Overall I give this monkey jacket a solid A. I would recommend it if ye have any lusty plastic lass from Grace O'Malley's time or if yer lusty plastic lass loves pink.
