Kit's School Lunch was introduced in 2000, modified in 2007, and retired in 2017. A new, modified version was rereleased in April 2023 under Kit's Birthday Collection branding; this version sold out in November 2023. All three versions should be reviewed in this thread.
Original description: Kit loves her lunch tin decorated with ships, trains, and airplanes — people in the 1930’s were fascinated by speed and travel! Raise the hinged lid to reveal her lunch: a sandwich, apple, carrot, and oatmeal raison cookie. Her cloth napkin is embroidered with autumn leaves and acorns. $16
Second version: Even though money is tight for her family, Kit can still enjoy lunch: A cheese sandwich, an apple, a carrot, celery, and an oatmeal-raisin cookie; A cloth napkin embroidered with autumn leaves and acorns; An enameled lunch tin with ships, trains, and airplanes, which all fascinated people in the 1930s. $20
Birthday Collection version: Kit brings her lunch to school and always sits by her best friend, Ruthie, on the girls’ side of the lunchroom. Includes: A light-green tin lunch box with two handles and a removable lid. The lid and sides feature black-and-white artwork depicting ships, trains, and airplanes. A white square cloth napkin with light green outer stitching and “Autumn” embroidered in one corner alongside orange and yellow leaves and acorns. A pretend sandwich, apple slices, carrots, and an oatmeal raisin cookie. $36
Version I
Kit’s School Lunch $20 QSAL
Grade: A
This set includes Kit's lunch tin, her sandwich, apple, carrot, oatmeal raisin cookie and a cloth napkin.
Kit's tin lunch box is great! I have my Granny's old lunch box from the same time period. It is shaped just like Kit's, and is almost the same color green. I love the images on the lunch tin too.
The napkin is very pretty. I love the little leaves embodied on the corner.
The food is realistic and nicely detailed, however, after about a year, the plastic in the food seems to have become sticky and greasy. The food has been stored in it's original box, so I honestly do not know what has caused this change to occur. It was not sticky when it was new. I have not heard of this happening before, so hopefully it is an isolated problem.
Very cute, lots of play value. A
