Urban Accessories
Check your American Girl’s watch—it’s time to go! Her hair looks casually chic decorated with hair chopsticks. Sling her nylon purse, hung with a flower-and-dog-tag key chain, over her shoulder. It holds her library card and money for lunch. While she’s eating, she can read her copy of American Girl magazine!
Watch: It is a nice blue and gold color but does not stay on very well. I would've liked an actual buckle like Ruthie's watch, or even a magnet instead of velcro. I also worry that it will catch on clothes. Grade: B
Hair Chopsticks: These are silver with a tiny blue bead, an opaque light blue cloudy bauble and a tiny shiny red bead at the top. They work just like people hair chopsticks. I really like the color combo. Grade: A
Purse and Keychain: I like the color of the purse - it's a neutral but different since it is dark green. The design on the purse and the dog-tag keychain is very Avril Lavigne. The keychain is removable with a clip. Because the fabric of the purse is so lightweight the keychain can weigh it down a bit. The zipper is real metal. The strap fastens with velcro which makes it easy to get on but it hits kind-of low; I would like it to hit more at her hip. This thing is TINY. It barely fits the money/library card. Purse Grade: C- Keychain Grade: B
Library card/Cash/Magazine: standard issue. Grade: A
Overall Grade: B. The purse was really disappointing. What I do love about this set overall is that it is not pink or purple and it uses a few colors so the different pieces can mix-and-match with other sets. However, I'm not sure that the colors pull together as a set. I think the watch should've probably been blue and silver or blue and red instead of having the gold detailing since the colors of the outfit are red, grey and blue. Similarly, even though I love green as a neutral I think grey, blue or red would've worked better for the purse.
