Kit wore this coat in Changes for Kit. Released in 2001, retired in 2013.
Keep Kit warm during the cold Cincinnati winter in a double-breasted wool coat. Mother and Mrs. Howard made it from one Dad’s old ones!
Kit's Winter Coat $20 QWO
A+
Kit's coat is just wonderful. It has a very classic look to it. I feel warm just looking at it.The coat is made of a nice, heavy gray fabric. It is double breasted and closes with real buttons, not snaps or velcro.
I really wish I had bought the hat and mittens to complete the set. For the price, I feel they could have been included with the coat.
A+ for a well made, handsom little coat.

Just got this coat today as AGPLA was out of Kit's Christmas outfit and she needed some kind of winter wear! I too like the thick fabric of it, the style, and the fact that it closes with buttons. I wanted to mention, however, that the belt buckle is made of plastic rather than metal. That's a big minus on an otherwise great item. The buckle does not have a prong, so it has to be a very tight fit with the belt in order to keep it tightened. This does make it somewhat difficult to re-buckle the belt once you've take it out. A-

This is definitely a nice addition to Kit's wardrobe...or any doll's, for that matter. I'd hate to wear it myself--wool definitely makes me itch, but it looks really good on Kit. I love the fact that it has real buttons, tiny though they are. I do agree that the buckle is a bit hard to buckle up, and I do wish that the beret and mittens were included, but I'm satisfied. In the picture, I didn't have the beret and mittens yet, so I used Molly's meet beret and the AGT Sugarplum mittens. Grade: A

Hi,
If I'm not mistaken, either wool or a wool blend was used to make Kit's coat.
It is nicely made.
Best of all, it's lined. This is really important because having a sleek lining not only gives the coat a finished look of quality but it also helps a lot when getting those splayed fingers through the sleeves.
Years ago, I got the Sugarplum coat. I just 'knew' before I'd seen it that I was going to love it. Wrong! It wasn't lined. Worse, the fabric material had a loose weave that ended up snagging the fingers several times before getting the hands through. I was so disappointed that I sent the coat back after only trying it on a doll once.
Kit's burgundy hat and mittens do seem to add the right hint of colour to contrast that gray. The gray coat alone just doesn't look anywhere near as good without these additional accessories.

This is a must in your Kit's collection. She received this coat from her mother who made it from one of Kit's Dad's old coats. The fabric is just like a real coat. My mother has a coat just like it, and they feel the same. It definitely is thick enough to withstand years and years of play. The belt is the problem. I undid it and I found it extremely difficult to get it back through. It took me about 30 minutes to get it undone, and it took 15 minutes to get it back on again. I'm afraid to take it out again. So, I looped the belt around the coat, and it is in the back now, and all you see in the front are the buttons. It looks a little silly. I first I took the belt out all the way. It didn't look to bad, but it was a little funny to have two belt loops and no belt.
B+ because of the belt troubles.

Kit’s Winter Coat Item# D7335 Kit beats the cold Cincinnati winter in this double-breasted, wool coat that Mother and Mrs. Howard made from one of Dad’s old ones.
$24 Christmas '09 The coat looks like your basic man's dress coat. It is a medium shade of gray with lighter flakes mixed in. The fabric is probably not wool, but it is not fleece. I peg the fabric as imitation wool tweed. Like all other winter coats, this is not going to keep a doll warm. As well, the coat is not lined. Coat has a nifty collar that makes Kit look sophisticated. There is enough of a neckline to push a scarf though to make the outfit even better (and warmer). Cuff can be worn up or down. The sleeves are slightly tight on my older Kit. American Girl is not even trying to cover up these fake pockets. Personally, I think $24 makes real pockets worth while. The worst thing about this coat is the buttons. They are tiny little suckers, almost as small as the buttons from Kit's birthday dress. Given that these are coat buttons, not to mention made for men, shouldn't they be just a little bit bigger? This makes it hard to button the coat and not made for tiny hands. Kit in the North Texas Christmas storm '09. The coat is roomy enough to fit well enough Kit in a simple dress, her Christmas and newer school dresses may be pushing it a little. The belt is a little hard to get on or off, which along with the buttons makes me recommend limited this to older kids. Given the coat's importance in Kit's winter story, and the fact that she does look warm in the outfit (not that the doll herself is warm) I think it earns an A-. *mod edit to remove dead image links throughout review

Interestingly enough, I found a picture of a coat that looks exactly like Kit's - except it was WWII era "utility clothing" from England! You can see that coat here: www.hullcc.gov.uk/museumcollections/emuweb5/media.php?irn=5736&image=yes&width=200Because of this, I've decided that the coat works perfectly for my Emily. I bought this coat yesterday (1/07/10). I give it an A. The material is nice and thick, and it actually buttons closed. As has been noted, the "buckle" doesn't actually have a prong, and it's a little bit difficult to fit the belt through. However, this was a feature of utility clothing: that would be one less bit of metal. The sleeves are nice - they fit well over the wrists of the mittens, but aren't too tight to adjust. I like the length - it's just past the knee, which seems practical. I give this an A and not an A+ because it would have been *really* nice if there was something else sold with it. The coat by itself seems a little bit overpriced. Maybe a scarf would be a good addition.

I really like this coat a lot. The fabric is nice - though not as heavy as I thought it would be - it's much softer too. I love it paired with Kit's Beret and Mittens. Overall, this coat gets an A from me! D~

One of the nicer AG coats. Easy to use and looks good with the beret and mittens. Looks very warm too!

I have Se Ah modelling the coat. I like it a lot, and I think it functions well as a historical and modern piece. It fit well on my PM doll who is wearing a shirt and jumper underneath. I did find the belt a bit of a pain, and I definitely can imagine younger girls having difficulty with it. I would give it an A-.

After complaining that there were no actual winter coats for MyAGs, I bought this one, becasue I figured I'll be getting Kit someday.
I love the classic lines of this coat. The style can transcend time. I love it for the 30's and I also let Molly use it. I evokes some Harry Potter-ness, perfect for Europe, at least the UK. I even have a coat like it, but it a light blue. It's AG's version of the pea coat. The buttons are fairly small however, and patience is needed when getting them on, but especially with that darn belt. It's hard to get the belt through the buckle.

A very warm looking coat! And thick too, it feels like a soft wool blend.
Others have said there is no prong, but mine has one. Though if you put it through one of the three holes, it is very big (I put it up to being a hand-me down), so I just tuck it around and cinch.

Kit's winter coat is one of my favorites. It is made of nice, heavy material and really is a timeless look.

Coat: A+This is a heavy coat made out of a woollen material. It drops to just over the knees and opens with real double-breasted buttons in the front. The sleeves are rolled up and stay in place. The belt around the middle actually fastens and has reinforced buttonholes for that purpose. The coat also has the outline of pockets, but they aren’t actually functional. The belt gives the back a very sophisticated look. I think this is a very classic look that could work on a variety of dolls. The belt. The back. One of the sleeves. Good Value? This retailed for $24, which I think was a bit much for a coat at the time (especially when the whole outfit could cost just as much). On the secondary market, the cost seems to fluctuate depending on what comes with the coat. You should be able to find it for a fair price – it was available for a long time. Overall: A+I love this coat for its classic look and practical fabrics. Also, as someone who spent part of her childhood in Cincinnati, I could easily see this coat being comfy and warm in the winter months. I’ve wanted it for Kit for years, and I’m delighted to finally have it! Kit's ready for the cold!

A friend has this. Kit's winter coat looks complete historically accurate. A child would have most certainly have been given a cut down version of an adult coat if no other outgrown child's coat was available. The gray color is pretty and it really is quite cute despite having no frills.

This coat is timeless, whether it is for Kit or any dolls moving forward. It is simple yet elegant and an excellent quality. Works well for boy dolls too! http://instagram.com/p/C49KOlHs8Rr
