*This outfit was worn by Molly in the book Meet Molly as well as the short story "Molly's A+ Partner". It can also be seen in the movie Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front*This is a review for Molly's meet outfit. The grade for this is a B+, but I truly love this outfit. I'll explain the grade below (it mostly has to do with her sweater). Molly's meet outfit consists of a sweater, collar*, skirt, bloomers, hair ribbons, glasses, glasses case, socks, and shoes. Her sweater is very nice. It is mostly navy blue in color, but it has a blue, red and green plaid pattern in the front. The skirt is flared and is made of navy blue wool, I think. It stops right above her knees. It has a Velcro attachment on the back. The ensemble comes with a detachable collar. It goes around Molly's neck and fastens in back with Velcro. The collar itself is white, but it is trimmed with dark blue ric-rac. This outfit also has smaller items, such as Molly's white bloomers, red hair ribbons, silver-rimmed glasses, a red felt glasses case, white socks, and black plastic Mary Janes. I'm giving this ensemble a B+ because the sweater is a little hard to pull over Molly's head. It doesn't open up with Velcro or snaps, so pulling it over Molly usually causes her hair to become mussed up. This can also cause the sweater to stretch along the bottom, but the stretch marks are not noticeable once Molly is wearing the sweater. The skirt is also beautiful, but you have to be careful because it catches lint easily. Also, I don't like the plasticky Mary Janes--they work fine but they just seem so cheap. (Still, though, you could always buy patent Mary Janes separately.) I hope a B+ doesn't seem like too harsh of a grade, because this is still one of my absolute favorite Molly outfits. It has such a simple, clean and patriotic look--very nice for the 1940s. I just wish the manufacturers had decided to include snaps at the back of Molly's sweater so it would be much easier to pull on and off. * = I can't even say the real name of the detachable collar because of the censors on this board. LOL!

I have most of this outfit still, after 11 years, I'm just missing the "collar", socks, and ribbons. The only problem I've ever had wiht this outfit it the velcro on the skirt, it is hard to put together, and once it's together it is hard to keep it that way. I could fix it myself wiht some more velcro, but she doesn't wear it very often, so I haven't bothered. She's more into modern clothes.

The sweater seems to stretch and pull easily. The skirt is wool and attracts fuzz and fluff though nothing a good swipe with the lint roller won't cure. The hair ribbons are kind of cheap feeling and nothing special. The velcro on the skirt also wears out and the sweater has lost shape. The skirt has a few pulls and holes, despite the fact Molly was barely played with before she came to me. I'm not crazy about the dicky and have a hard time getting it to lie flat. He seems a little odd to have a collar without a sweater. This outfit is good for mixing and matching though. I'd say grade: B skirt with camp blouse sweater with after school pants

I like this outfit. Molly wears it a lot in the fall. The only things I don't like are that the sweater is way hard to get over her head and my skirt always has lint stuck to it. (I have to lint roll it LOL). Does anyone else have this problem?

My Mollys sweater came (used) very bagged out so I guess it will loosen up over many play sessions!

I love my Meet outfit! I hate that the sweater get so worn out though. It gets little fuzzies on it after being played with a lot. And I de-lint the skirt everytime Molly puts it on and takes it off, and sometimes in between. It picks up everything!! But it is a really cute outfit! I love Molly in it!!

I would have to give this outfit a B- because of the sweater and the shoes. The shoes are easy to put on with no socks, but with socks, they are a pain in the behind to put on. The sweater has no velcro making it practically impossible to put on the doll. But otherwise I love this outfit!

Just wanted to add a reference picture here to show the difference between Molly's (who's are identical to Samantha's) meet underwear and Kit's meet underwear, which are similar, yet different. Kit's meet underwear / Molly's meet underwearMolly's have a bit of ruffle gathered at the hem of her underwear legs. Kit's just end with a piece of elastic.

Molly's meet outfit is very nice. I like that it comes with several pieces. The sweater is very pretty - I do wish it velcroed up the back, as it is sometimes difficult to get over her head. The dickie is very easy to use - I always make sure that it is hanging correctly on the hanger, otherwise it seems to wrinkle in weird ways and then it doesn't lay as nicely. Her skirt is so nice and heavy weight - we do have a dog (Yellow Lab) and his hair likes to find Molly's skirt. Her socks are plain white socks, nothing too special. Molly's shoes are the same plastic ones that Sam has - to be honest we don't use them. Overall, I give this outfit an A+! D~

My Molly originally belonged to my stepsister. She came with her "meet outfit" skirt, sweater, dickey, and one shoe. (The other shoe, socks, underwear, and ribbons are probably lost in my stepsister's room somewhere.)
I haven't had any problems with the sweater. Yes, it's a little hard to get over her head, but it's cute and a perfect mix-and-match piece. Molly wore it last fall. I haven't tried the dickey with the sweater yet. I might put it on when she wears the sweater again, just to see if it does lay flat.
The skirt...oh, where do I begin? I keep it in the back room, where lint isn't a problem...but the Velcro's so gone, it won't fit her or my modern doll Jessa. Plus, I washed it, and I think it may have shrunk somehow. I had to give her a ribbon belt when she wore it last fall.

This outfit is so cute! But I had to replace the sweater a few times because it's hard to get over Molly's head, the dickie doesn't stay velcroed and neither does the skirt. I usually put her blouse from her school outfit on in place of the dickie.

Molly's meet has always been my favorite meet oufit. It looks so peppy IMO all of her oufits mix match so well! Her meet skirt looks great with her after school shirt, and I love her dicky with her school jumper. The seater is just darling, although I need a new one, mine is a little decrepid (the woman I bought it from bought it with her wb Molly in 86)!! A+++

Sweater: I received my Molly doll along with her Meet outfit for Christmas in 2012 so I think the sweater must've changed a little over the past couple years. Mine is not a pullover, it opens and closes in the back with the new softer velcro. Either way I really like the bright design of the sweater and how soft it is it seems to have a lot of mix and match potential. It looks adorable with the dickey underneath but looks just as nice without it. A+Dickey: It probably isn't going to be used too much with other outfits but it does look good with the Meet outfit's sweater. Just wish it didn't curl up so much, it's kind of hard to keep folded down sometimes. A-Skirt: This has to be one of my favorite parts, if not my favorite part, of the whole outfit! It seems to be the right length and the right cut for a girl growing up in the 1940s, and it's such a lovely navy color. It can easily be mixed into other outfits. It's one thing that makes me wish sometimes that there was a white blouse included in the outfit instead of just a dickey because I can imagine how nicely it along with the skirt would look by themselves; it would probably make for a nice school uniform for other dolls. The material seems high quality. I'm not completely sure if it's 100% wool or a wool blend but it certainly isn't just felt. A+Bloomers: I'm not totally sure if these kind of bloomers were still being worn around Molly's time, but they're quite cute. They're puffy enough that they obviously wouldn't do well with pants, but they work just fine under her dresses, at least from her time and further back. ASocks: Nice, fairly thick white cotton bobby socks. That's about it. A
Shoes: Ugh! What were they thinking when they gave poor Molly these fail-tastic rubber/plastic shoes? They look okay, but they didn't come off of her feet easily. I don't think I'm going to even try putting them back on. I mean, I do have one Bitty Baby outfit that includes plastic shoes but those are actually fairly easy to put on and take off. These, though, look like they'd be an unnecessarily long struggle. I noticed that in Molly's separate Socks and Shoes set that she has patent leather Mary Janes that snap open and closed. Could these shoes and Samantha's been why those sets were created? xD F+ (the plus is being nice since the Meet outfit does require some kind of shoes) Overall rating for the outfit: A- or A
