I won this book in an auction on ebay and it arrived today. I love it. It has to be one of the cutest book I have ever seen. You can feed baby a bottle, pat its back (burp), watch it kick its feet in the bathtub, powder its bottom, dress it, put it to bed, and play peek a boo. The book is well made in my opinion. The one I have has some lose tabs and the heart no longer plays music but for its age it is just perfect. It is beautifully illustrated and very interactive. I was told there are three versions of the book - caucasion (white), african american (black), and asian. From what I understand Pleasant T. Rowland wrote this book to help a new sibling learn to care for a new baby and that it was intended to be the center of the Our New Baby Collection. I just love it and would give it an A rating!

I just recently found this book at a doll and toy show, and we love it! My 3 1/2 year old loves to do all the activities on each page, and the illustrations, as well as the overall quality of the book, are amazing. The book is no longer in print, and was originally $14.95. However, I willingly shelled out $20 for a mint copy, mostly because I always wanted this book when I was little and my parents never bought it for me. It is an adorable addition to the ONB or Bitty collection, and is a very durable book. It is definitely made with toddlers in mind.
Robin, the book itself does not have an age recommendation on it, but I think a one year old would be too young for it. The child should be at a point where they would not chew on the pages (they are a sturdy thin cardboard, but still chewable) and some of the tabs take a bit of manual dexterity to move. I would think the 2 year old would be more likely to play well with the book, but I would recommend an adult assist them with it. My three year old started to get rough with some of the tabs, and adult instruction is needed on some of them; the powder page and the zipper page were a bit difficult because they are different from any other books we have.
I give this an A+! I would love to see this book re-issued to go along with Bitty.

I found a secondhand copy a few years ago, and it is one of the versions sold after Our New Baby had officially become Bitty Baby, but as far as I know, it looks the same (other than the Bitty Baby logo). It is the Caucasian baby version and slightly torn up, but still readable. I like to look at it when I want to reminisce about my childhood. Grade: A (for the concept, not the condition of my book)

What a darling book and is filled with all the ways we care for a new baby during a day. Would be a perfect gift for a child getting a new sibling. A+
