I did a search for this one and couldn't find it, so I'm going to review it, too!
It's such a beautiful fancy dress. It's not as regal or formal as the Gala Dress, but it's still very lovely. The skirt is made of several layers of chiffon, grouped into two ruffles which are stitched to an underskirt - one ruffle is at the waist, one is halfway down. This helps give it the fluffy quality. There is velcro in the back, that really nice kind that's soft and doesn't tear at things too badly. (Which is good, because chiffon can get nasty snags!)
The shirt is a soft black velvet, also with that nice velcro in the back. It is long sleeves and has silver stitching on the front. It looks abstract to me, but organic, and has a few green sequins attached to the curlicues. I just realized, after posting this review, that the design is of a flower and branches/stems. Silly me. At any rate, the little green sparkles in the photo below are sequins on the flowers.
The tights are ribbed and thick, and I liked how long they are. This is my first experience with AG tights and I was pleased that they allow the doll to sit and move easily, unlike the OG tights I got the other day which make the legs stiff! The tights are a soft cream color, matching the skirt and collar.
The collar also velcros in the back with that nice velcro. It's fluffy, but not overly so, and is filled enough to keep its shape. I found that it was a bit awkward to get it on under the doll's hair, but once set, it makes the outfit so much fancier.
The shoes are basically patent leather looking mules that have an elastic hoop attached to the bag. You put the foot through the elastic, then into the shoe itself. It was a bit of a tight fit, I thought, but ended up being quite sturdy!
The box includes a picture frame as well, which is cool if it's a present, because you can snap a photo of girl and doll to put in.
Of the holiday outfits, this ranks up there with the Radiant Rhinestones Outfit. This outfit is just gorgeous and every bit of this set is great. I love the soft and layered chiffon skirt, the velvety black long-sleeved top with its lovely design, the adorable dress shoes, and the textured tights. This outfit definitely looks great with the accessories as well. This is an A++++++ outfit all the way!

This outfit is gorgeous. The collar is absolutely hideous. I hate it. I cannot find the words to express my distaste for this ridiculous piece of... fluff. Ew.
The tights are fantastic. I love their texture. The shoes are darling, although all my girls' heels hang off the back. I find the elastic straps reminiscent of the black shoes worn by the children at the party in the NYC Ballet's Nutcracker. The skirt is darling. The black velvet shirt reminds me of an Elvin design- very lovely and perfect for a Lord of the Rings Fan.

Ha ha! You crack me up Colette! I do use mine, but that's simply because I bought the accessories set so it seems to work well with ear muffs and muff. However, I do agree that it is pretty yucky! It looks a bit silly and it makes the doll look like they are choking! When I first got the outfit I tried to see if I could use it as a headband or something because I personally do not like those sorts of things for myself or on anyone else.
The other reviewers have described the outfit compenents well. I think the collar dresses it up and so we always use it, but I like that the option is there for a different look without it. I personally think the heavy ribbed tights were a regrettable choice; they weigh the outfit down and it can be difficult to get the shoes wrapped over them. I prefer a thinner white tight with this outfit. The floofy adorable skirt is versatile enough to be matched with other things to create a wide variety of looks; the top is a little tight for much other than this kind of outfit but I suppose you could dress up a pair of jeans with it. Shoes are very sweet and I like the wrap-around elastic-- anything that helps keeps shoes on increases playability in my book!
Overall this outfit ranks high and gets a A from me. It comes around every holiday season on the secondary market and reasonable prices seem to hold firm at under $40.
Note that due to member reports, this top of this outfit is on our FAQ list of things that can stain doll vinyl. If you are concerned about that happening, consider wrapping your doll's arms in saran wrap before putting the outfit on her. Yes, saran wrap. Extreme perhaps, but it works to protect dolls.
