I bought it over a year ago, and the kids enjoy setting it up. It is a nice set even though the food is clumped together (stuck onto the plates). The only difficulty I found was properly positioning all of the pieces back into the plastic basket so that the lid would close. It does all fit.

I agree. I got it last year when it was on sale. Actually, I got two. One for each of my girls.
The kids like it. Yes, the food is clumped on a plate, but it is still nice. It comes with two plates of food, two cups, a picnic blanket, and some silverwear. The girls have played with the set a fair amount. When one combines it with Chrissa's party treats, it is a good amount of food. The picnic basket is currently being used to hold iwako food erasers. As was previously stated, it can be difficult getting everything positioned carefully into the basket to close again. I almost seem 'ok' with clumped food for the twins, but not for full size dolls.

We love this set. Both my 5 and 3 year old play with it all the time. It is very cute and little kid friendly. Getting all the items to fit back in the basket is tough like Happymargaret and sleelytiger mentioned. Our set gets played with so much things rarely need to be put back

I bought it last year on Cyber Monday. It is one of my daughter's favorites. She is 3 1/2 and it gets alot of play. She loves doing picnics for her dolls and stuffed animals. We usually pair it with the Bitty Twin sleepover backpack that has juice boxes and snacks. The color scheme is cute too. We have some pieces from the older set and I like the newer colors better.

We have this set. My girls love it. They play with it a lot and I think we already missing one plate and cup... It's somewhere around here We got one set originally in AGPC in early spring for our youngest one. She was 19 months or so then but really loved playing with it. Our older one picked an outfit in a store but when we got home she changed her mind and of course they barely can share it. So when I went to fall MCM I picked up extra set so both girls would have it. My point is that kids do love it, the cups are really cute and the spoons gets used a lot too.

B: It was difficult to put a grade on this set. While my children don’t particularly care for it, it’s fairly well designed and has quite a bit of play potential. I’m sure that many children would really enjoy it. The set contains: a basket, a gingham- and floral-print blanket, two plates with food, two cups, two spoons, and two napkins. Picnic Basket: The plastic picnic basket is definitely an improvement over the 2001 version. It’s far sturdier and holds all the picnic goodies. However, my three year-old does have a difficult time getting everything in the basket. It’s a bit like a game of Tetris. Picnic Blanket: The cotton picnic blanket is large enough for two Bittys to share a picnic. It can also double as a baby blanket. The trim coordinates with the 2007 Spring Jumper and Pants sets and the gingham sort of matches the Bitty Basics Sleeper Gown. Two Plates with Food: While the kids and I would have definitely preferred separate food pieces, I understand how individual pieces could present a choking hazard. Also, while most children would probably be intrigued by the face sandwiches, mine think they look gross with the cream cheese, jam, raisin, cracker, banana, pretzel, and Cheerios. So while the plates/food have quite a bit of play potential, they’re rarely used here or are given to lesser liked dolls. I’m also amused by AG’s ability to pinkify anything, including sandwiches and ants-on-a-log. It takes some doing. Here are the 2001 and current versions of the sandwich. Obviously, the older version is much larger. Cups: The green plastic cups are fairly typical baby doll cups. It’s nice that the style can also double as a soup cup. The flowers match those on the table cloth trim. Spoons: I’m not certain why they chose to include the blue and silver plastic spoons. It doesn’t seem like spoons are commonly used to eat sandwiches or ants-on-a-log. However, they’re quite nice and can be used with other Bitty foods. Napkins: The napkins match the trim on the picnic blanket. They’re nicely made, useful, and really help complete the set. I especially like how the napkins and spoons can be fastened to the inner portion of the picnic basket lid. While I understand that the company is American Girl and that they predominately cater to girls 3+, it was nice to see the reintroduction of “baby” boys with the start of the Bitty Twin line. However, AG has yet to create a Bitty Twin food set that isn’t “girly” looking. I really wish that there was a more gender neutral option.
