I received Kathleen for my 12th birthday back in 2003, around when she had just come out. She is a beautiful doll, and definitely one of my favorite GOML dolls. I especially love her green eyes, freckles, and long red hair which is in ringlets. She arrived in the Irish dance dress that I believe she wore at the end of the book where she is in a competition of some sort (it's been awhile since I read the book so forgive me if anything I said is inaccurate!). The dress also has a cape attached to it. She also has a matching hat with a yellow feather on it, black tights, and black slip-on shoes with straps that cross in the middle. She came with a doll stand, just as all of the GOML dolls did. As you can probably see in the pictures, my Kathleen doll's hair has gotten a little messy with a few flyaways over the years. Her hair is not quite as protected as the other GOML dolls'. Her ringlets just hang loose, so I guess that's the only downside because her hair can get messed up more easily. But overall, Kathleen is a beautiful doll and I'd definitely recommend her!
Having been an Irish dance fanatic for half my life, I knew I had to have Kathleen when I saw her. She was the first doll in my collection, and the only doll in the product line that has truly interested me.
I love her, but I do wish that these dolls were more play-with-able. Her limbs can move, but seem like they will easily break if moved too far. Her cap is attached to her head, and there is no way to remove her ghillies (dance shoes) that I know of--at least, not if you wanted to put them back on later. She comes with a medal to hang around her neck.
I have also read her book many times. It is very good, but reads very quickly. I wish that each doll came with a series of books like the historicals--I wasn't ready for Kathleen's adventures to end when I had finished the book!
