I got this set on eBay for $22. My set is used and came with two misters, so I don't have the seeds but I do have everything else.
What this set consists of:
-a tote bag
-four pretend seed packets
-four planting pots
-a rake
-a trowel
-a mister
-a watering can
-and four seed pellet thingys, but I don't have those, so they won't be reviewed here.
I chose this set over the newer one because it seems like more of a generic gardening set, and I wanted it for Ellie and Monica for their desert landscaping crusade. You also get more for this set and the dolls can actually hold more of the items here. I have owned the other set, so I may make some comparisons here.
The watering can is metal with flowers painted on the side. I havn't put water in it yet but it does appear to be fully functional, it even has holes in the spout for the water to come out of. It fits in the doll's hands as shown in the pictures below.
The mister is plastic and the top really pushes down.
The clay pots aren't real clay--they're plastic but they are very realistic nonetheless as they have holes in them and everything. You really could use them to plant small plants if you wanted to.
The trowel and rake are metal with plastic handles. The handle on one is shaped like a carrot and on the other like peas in a pod.
The bag is made of cotten/canvas type material and holds everything but the watering can. It has elastic cord running along its sides. It is pink, green, and white.
The seed packets are paper with white cardboard in them. Not that impressive but a nice addition nonetheless.
Compared with the newer set this set has more usable pieces and they are more realistic in size than the newer set. There is also less plastic and I feel that this set is more multi-purpose type gardening than the newer one.
Grade: A
