In all honesty, if I had not bought the new bakery case, I would not have bothered with this set. Previous AG baking sets were far more impressive. I mean, come on, you really don't get much here. Not compared to the 2002 set or to the Sweet Treats set. And the apron? Well, I'm getting there.
I know, I might just be whiny and complain-y, but seriously. The previous baking accessory set (the Sweet Treats set) cost $24 and came with more. This one costs $28 and comes with less. Yea, I know, CPSIA, and congress.
But still. Seriously. Were it not for the fact that I wanted the bakery case, and were I not such a wuss when it comes to small, cute and kitney things for AGs (particularly if they are baking type stuffs) I probably would have passed on this.
And unless you plan on buying the new bakery case set, I recommend you pass on this. You'd get more bang for your buck from the 2002 Baking set or the Sweet Treats accessories and even the OG baking set. More pieces with any of those sets.
This set consists of
-a bowl
-an apron
-an oven mitt
-a glove style oven mitt
-a towel
-an icing tube thing
-a plastic spoon
-a box of pretend cupcake mix
-two boxes of pretend sprinkles
The apron is cute. It doesn't mix and match well with everything in my huge collection of modern doll clothing, AG and otherwise, but it is still cute. It closes with velcro, both along the top and along the waist. The apron has two functioning front pockets.
The oven mitts match the apron. They are cute, but honestly, AG has made other oven mitts. Lanie's camper even comes with one. So do all the previous baking sets. Nonetheless, these are cute.
The bowl is a bowl...it is similar to the Sweet Treats bowl: plastic. Not much to see here.
The spoon is also plastic. Why this is I do not know, since the Sweet Treats spoon was wood.
The icing tube thing is pretty realistic and is probably one of the few reasons to spring for this set. It has stuffing in it to make it seem like it is full of frosting.
The sprinkles jars are plastic and filled with glitter. Not much to see here, either.
The towel is white, and is meant to go with the baking table. Cute, but not much to add to the set.
The cupcake mix box is cardboard that has been filled with something so that it won't get squashed during play.
So yea, on its own, this is not that impressive.
Grade: C+ (with the baking case, I'd grade it higher, since it does complete the baking case setup)
