Birthday Dress Outfit (2010)

I've been wondering for a while why there was no review for this outfit...does seriously no one have it? It's so cute! I got it for my 18"ers.


I especially love the hat, and it feels like it could work for Kit/Ruthie as well.

I would never have known about this dress if it hadn't been on Spotlight Savings during the last free shipping--which is a shame, because it's seriously cute. The dress and hat fit Marcy perfectly. For reference I believe she's from 2001 so it might be looser on newer dolls. The shoes also fit, because they are entirely made of a pleathery material, but they don't look like shoes a ten-year-old would wear. You can also see the outline of her toes.

To my eyes the dress has a retro look. Marcy is a 1950's girl, and while the skirt is probably way too slim to be quite accurate, the dress is surprisingly close to one on Advance 5578. When I finish making her petticoat I'll have to see if that helps at all.

It's definitely a summer dress because the material is on the thin side. I'm not usually a fan of the color orange but this is a more subtle shade and actually quite pretty. The ribbon trim on the hat is a slightly darker shade than the dress, with a bit more of a coral tone.

The set also came with a Bitty Twins picnic book; I have no use for it but I guess it's nice that they are encouraging reading.
