I love this doll. She is so beautiful! Mine is Mattel and almost ha reddish highlights which are very beautiful. I have seen a PM that didn't have those same reddish shine to it, it was a more brown colored dark brown.
Ilike everything about this doll!
A+

I have the PM version of #2, and you're right. She does have the chestnut brown hair(no highlights). She still very goreous, and my autumn is very precious.

B+: Maybe its a bonding issue but I have never cared for GT2 (Emily Rose). She is a pretty doll but was not what I expected when I ordered her. I ordered her the day she came out to be a hispanic girl. However, she doesn't really look hispanic to me.
Her skin does not have the same golden color as Josefina's or Marisols and she shares the same face mold with most of the other AGOT dolls. In my opinion she looks most like an old WB or early tan body Samantha (her skin is a little darker) than either Josefina or Marisol. Mine has dark brown hair, no highlights.

I love my Jess so much and wanted a friend for her. I desperately wanted a doll to be Sarita and after much deliberation, I ordered #2. She is a lovely doll, but does not look like what I expected her to and she doesn't look anything like what I wanted for a Sarita. To me, #2 doesn't look like a girl from Belize. She doesn't look all that different from the classic dolls; she is more like a suntanned version of the light skinned dolls. She actually made me think of when my dd was little and she had those beautiful suntan Barbie dolls. I know that AG calls her medium skin, and there are lots of other dolls that they label as medium, but I have yet to find two medium dolls that actually have the same skin color. The medium Bitty Baby was much darker than I expected and #2 was much lighter. Even though #2 is a beautiful doll, she wasn't what I wanted and I ended up exchanging her for another Jess. Now my Jess has a twin sister which is very nice too even though it doesn't follow her book. If I was still looking for a Sarita, I would choose #28 and just play that some time had passed since the book and that would explain Sarita's new hairstyle.

This doll is OK to me. I got her as part of a lot, listed as Samantha. We already have two Samanthas, so it was a pleasant surprise to find that it was a JLY and not another Samantha (because although I like Samantha, we certainly don't need three of her!). That said, this is probably one of my least favorite JLY dolls. Perhaps because it most resembles me (aside from the bangs), it seems boring. Ours is a PM, and my 3 year old has named her Cocky Locky, which is what she has called all of the JLY dolls since I told her they don't come with names and you can call them whatever you like. I don't know if we are going to keep this one, just because she is so similar to Samantha, and I would prefer a little more diversity. On the other hand, I'm really lazy about selling things, so this doll may very well become a permanent part of our collection. I give this doll a C. It would be a B if it didn't have bangs or if the skin was a little bit more "medium" (or both), but this still wouldn't be one of my favorites.

Rose, my #2, was my very first doll. I got her to look like me, but now we look nothing alike. She's pretty old now, and very well-loved. Since I got her when I was in first grade, she's been through a lot and her limbs are loose, her hair is frizzy, and she has various scuff marks. But I love her all the same!
One thing, though, I thought I should mention is that I agree her skin isn't quite as "medium" as other dolls'. She is my only medium skinned doll, but compared to my friend's #28, Rose's skin looks more yellowy, but maybe that's just her age.
Overall, I'd probably give this doll a B.

I agree that she is pretty much Samantha with straight hair and a tan. I actually got them together at the Christmas when AGOT first came out. As I recall, there wasn't a doll that really looked like me (now there is, #21) but #2 was the one on the cover of the catalog that introduced AGOT and I fell desperately in love with her. My mom had always wanted me to have Samantha though, so I got both. (Thanks mom!) Here are some pictures of the together for comparison. Sam isn't really taller, they're just on different stands. I think she was their attempt at a hispanic doll at the time, but to me she's just tan, so I usually put her in outdoorsy clothes. My twelve-year-old self who first got her probably would have given her an A+, but now I give her a B- for being ambiguous and too close to Sam. However, her straight hair is still silky and beautiful with no care except an occassional brushing, while Sam's curls give me tons of trouble.

A+ I have a Mattel version of #2 and I adore her! Beatrice (or Beezus) came to us in horrendous condition. Her head was so bad, it was not repairable. It needed to be replace. Her hands were also chewed. (One finger on her left hand is almost falling off) But my daughter loves her so much and she quickly became a favorite. Here she is with her beautiful new head:

My #2 was originally my sister's. She is a first run AGOT. There was no Kaya at the time, and she wanted a Native American doll. Her name is Meg, and she is still in beautiful condition.

I got my PM #2, Melanie, in a lot on ebay with some outfits - I couldn't justify not buying the lot for $15 - and had plans to customize her, but when she arrived I was too charmed. Her previous owner had given her a little bit of a haircut, but I think it suits her well. She has such a sweet face. I'd agree that she was probably intended to be a latina doll before AG had the Josefina mold, and her vinyl does have a sort of cooler cast to it than my Marisol, but I really like her. Overall, I'd probably give her a B+
