Okay, I'm terrible with writing reviews. I wouldn't own the doll if I didn't like her so I'm biased. Anyway...
She is medium skinned with hazel eyes, light brown hair, and a Jess mold. She may have the longest hair of any AG ever. She gives Kaya a run for her money.
Her limbs are held on with knotted elastic. She was the first doll I picked out and they are just like normal. Not too tight, not too lose. The cups inside her arms and legs are a different design than the ones in my other dolls. Maybe it is a better design to work with the knots.
Her meet outfit consists of a dress, necklace, sandals, undies, and a flower hair clip. I added some barrettes in the picture because she has so much hair.

We braved the rain and got Kanani at AG Atlanta. I think she looks lighter-skinned in photographs than in real life. I love her tanned complexion. The dream doll for me... well except for the color of her eyes. Kanani and Lanie: Kanani and #30:

I posted these photos in my thread "I won Kanani", but thought I'd put them in the review section for those that aren't following the thread. Plus, I've never done a review and am excited to share just how lovely Kanani is!! I renamed my girl Lulu, which I am happy to have learned means "precious". That's exactly what she is, precious. Kanani's hair reaches down to her ankles when pulled straight. Her wig is a nice amount of hair~ neither too thin or too thick. She has the shorter hairs, so when pulled into pigtails you can't see her scalp. With so much hair, it's hard to keep it in place and there are a lot of flyaways. The color and wave are exactly like Marisol's wig, only longer. Her eyes are a nice tone of hazel, with more brown tones than bright green. Her skin tone is beautiful! Reminds me of mocha. I adore her meet dress~ it's so flowy and light. Some of the flowers have little sequins in the center, which adds a bit of sparkle. The dress wrinkles easily, which reminds me of Kailey's meet dress. Her sandals are so cute! They are a periwinkle blue with a ruffled strap down the center. Her necklace fits over her head without undoing it, and it didn't even get caught in all that hair. It's a nice addition to the meet outfit, as is the cute flower clip that holds her nair nicely, unlike Rebecca's poor excuse of a barrette that falls out if you look at it wrong. Here are the photos from today. I plan to add more when I change her and play with her hair some more. Right now I'm enjoying her just the way she arrived. Rebecca's and Lulu's hair color is very similar. Rebecca's may be a tad darker. Rebecca and Lulu share the same eye color, although Lulu's appear to be a bit darker... possibly due to shape of eye and the way the light reflects off of them? Or, a different hazel. Lulu and Josefina have the same skin tone. Josefina's has a bit of rosiness to it while Lulu's actually seems a little darker.

A+++++ my new favorite GOTY!!! I love her hair. I just love everything about this doll, her hair is easy for me to curl. Her meet outfit is very beautiful too! It looks well made in my opinion Aloha Kanani! I put the store exclusive sweater on with her outfit in the pictures below:

I have one word to say about Kanani - GORGEOUS. I was hesitant to buy her because she didn't have the brown eyes like I was hoping she would. What a mistake it would have been if I didn't buy her! I love this doll. Right out of the box love! This is high praise as I sold Ivy and Jess and was never a big Jess mold fan. She is seriously way cute though. She has beautiful coloring and her eyes are a good contrast against her skin tone. I love her Meet outfit and necklace and her hair is simply to die for (long, lush, and simply fantastic). She's an all around A+, amazingly beautiful doll. Very highly recommend.

Everyone likes MOAR comparison shots, right?
Plus some more miscellaneous photos:
So far the hair isn't giving me too much trouble - it doesn't seem to have the dryness problem my Josefina wig has, knock on wood, though it does have a tendency to look kind of fly-away near the bottom. The curls are pretty easy to deal with - I took her hairnet off, fluffed her hair a bit, and voila, instant curls. Taking a lock and giving it a twist works pretty well, too.
She is super pretty - I think I like the Jess mold more with the medium skin tone. Her skin color is very comparable to #26's; 26 may be just a tad darker, but it's not noticeable. Josefina has a similar shade, too, but hers has a redder hue. I can't tell the difference between Kanani's and Mia's eyes, if there is one. They look the same to me compared side by side, though they appear more different in the photo above, I think because of their relative skin tones. I don't know; it's hard to say without actually popping their eyes out and looking at them by themselves, because the surroundings affect how we perceive colors. So, that.
The meet dress seems fairly nice - I like the pattern, though not as fond as the cut. Quality seems good. The sandles aren't as nice. They look a little bit cheap in person. Her necklace is plastic of some kind or other and is tied in back with a ribbon, so it's not nearly as heavy as it looks on her in photos. It's still a very cute necklace and is pretty easy to deal with. A+ for the necklace, C for the sandals. won't rate the dress since I don't know that I can do it objectively.

Just wanted to add a couple Kanani pics, plus some Kanani/Marisol comparison shots. Kanani is a beautiful doll, but her hair and skin color is nearly identical to Marisol's!

Kanani is gorgeous! I love the Jess mold in medium skin. She is very unique. I originally wanted her to have darker hair, but now I can't imagine her any other way! Her hair is VERY long (down to her knees) and gets messed up very easily. Strands of hair fall out really easily, especially when brushed. I love her anyway though, she is just too cute! I will add some pictures of her later (when my camera recharges ) Aloha Kanani! I love her meet outfit. It comes with a lot of stuff, so she doesn't look like she "needs" something to complete her look.

My daughter got Kanani for her birthday a few days ago and she is just gorgeous!! Her coloring is way better in person. Her hair is amazing, even though it does get messy very easy, if you keep it mostly in braids or even just a ponytail it can be managed easily. For girls 8 and up it will be no problem. Her eyes are gorgeous too. I just love the Jess mold and with the medium complexion it's so pretty. she gets an A++ from us!!
Her meet dress is so fun and pretty!!! We love it, I give it an A+ because it comes with the dress, undies, sandals and the necklace.
Here are some photos of her in other outfits.

Kanani is gorgeous. She's one of those dolls that looks prettier each time I see her. Which is dangerous since she's currently the only doll in my line of sight. Her hair is ridiculously long and I'm a little worried about how easily it seems to want to tangle, hence the current hairstyle. If I didn't happen to be absurdly fond of the curls, I probably wouldn't care because if nothing else, she invites you to play with her hair. I'm guessing that was the point. I just wish her hair net hadn't come tangled up with her flower. Not a big fan of her shoes personally, but I think it's simply that I don't like that style in non-doll size either. (They're held on by clear elastics when she's in the box and almost immediately the back band slid off Kanani's ankle, which meant they'd have gone flying in transit.) Not sure how I feel about the dress. It's pretty, but it's also pretty plain, sequins not withstanding. Not that I paid a lot of attention to it because I keep getting distracted by her eyes. Overall, I'd go with an A.

Her hair is gorgeous. It finger curls easily, but I do think it will take a little extra effort to keep it looking nice.
The flower clip is very easy to use. I included a picture of the back below so you can see how it clips. The shoes are cute, but the elastic on the back of one of mine is very loose and always falls off. Her necklace is pretty and ties in the back, but it's long enough that you don't have to untie it to get it on and off. Her dress is nice and summery and I really like the color.

Out of my fourteen dolls, I have to say that Kanani is my absolute favorite. The combination of her face mold, skin tone, hair color, and eye color are just stunning. Anyway, here are some comparison shots. One thing that I will say is that her hair can get tangled VERY easily, but other than that, it is just lovely. I have my Kanani's hair in braids at the moment, just to keep it from tangling. Kanani and my #44, BrielleKanani and Marisol. Their hair is actually slightly different in color, though you cannot tell by the photographs.Such a gorgeous doll.Overall Grade: A Doll: A+ Meet Outfit: B

I got Kanani yesterday, and she is so pretty! I like her meet outfit a lot, and have been hesitant to change her clothing, because the dress is so breezy and beautiful.

I just received Kanani this week and am blown away. She is darker in skin tone than I had imagined and I really like her hair/eye combo better than I thought from pictures. She truly looks tropical. Her hair is amazing though mine doesn't have as much curl as others. Overall A+ , a very unique and beautiful doll!

Kanani is really a beautiful doll, she really was a spur of the moment purchase on my part...I just had to take advantage of the free shipping. Anyway I purchased her and her accessories. She has so much hair and I just love her darker complexion ad well as the face mold. She seems smaller than all my other dolls for some reason...I'm not sure why. It may just be that she is my youngest doll at the moment. Regardless, I love her dress, its so soft and I love the minimal detailing. The beads and flower are a nice touch but I wish the flower was made out of a more realistic looking medium like silk. Her shoes are cute and really up to date with todays fashion. I really think she is one of the prettiest dolls of today American Girl has ever made. Grade: A

She seems smaller than all my other dolls for some reason...I'm not sure why. I don't know if it's all the 2011 dolls or just Kanani, but in every pic I've seen of Kanani she's shorter and fatter than other Mattel dolls. It's a little strange but not uncommon to this doll.

I LOVE HER! Although, there is a price for beauty. Her Meet outfit Defintley gets an A+++, The Dress is cute and gives her that tropical feel, with the Tropical flowers ,accents, and The Fact That its sleeve less also gives it the tropical feel. The Sandals are Easy to get on, And I have no problem with them falling off like others say. im glad they put ribbion instead of plastic that can break ( Like julies shoes) I also love the ruffles, without them, They would just be boring to me. The Doll: She is Quite a beauty. With that Jess Face mold, Light Frappachino Skin, And those Stunning hazel eyes, And that Wavy Just- got - out - of - the - water- Feel Completes the doll. Her eyes: her eyes are like a hazel color , but they are darker than mia's but still stunning. But i personally think that her eyes look brown in the book, but im glad they did green cause the Striking green Tropical Eyes Give a Nice Feel. And if they Were Brown She Would Be a Practical Marisol. Her hair: Her hair is not that much trouble if u know how to care for AGS hair. But it does Require daily maintenance, Meaning Kananis not the type of doll U can put on display and still keep her in good condition. Outfit Grade: A+++++ Doll Grade ( If u have had experince wich in my case i have) A+ doll grade ( No expreince) A- I would not reccomend her to a Newbie At Ag's, but She is A collector Must-Have

I was just telling my mom the same thing! I got my first Kanani on 1/1, and she had a terribly messed up eye. It was way smaller than the other eye. In Atlanta on Friday, I exchanged Kanani 1 for my current Kanani, who in addition to having even eyes has lovely hair! My first Kanani's hair was a disaster straight out of the box, but this one has very nice hair. Needless to say I'm in love with my new Kanani! I'm so happy with her, especially since I spent six months of being really upset over how disappointed I was in the first one.

My sister got her Kanani about two months ago from AG, and she also has the uneven eyes. Her wig seems to be excellent, from what I've played with it, and the curls start fairly high up on the wig. Her particular Kanani had a lump in her butt and a knot on her shoulder, so I had to re-stuff her before she went back to being normal. The lumpy butt made her very self-conscious in her swimsuit, but I think we've fixed her as much as we can
Is the uneven eye thing have anything to do with the Jess mold? My Ivy and my sister's Jess seem to be just fine, but Kanani has a very obvious eye problem.

I ordered Kanani in January. She came with parts of her wig stuck in the neck and coming out the other side. I ordered two replacements and both had worse issues than the 1st. I finally removed her head, pulled out the hair and recombed it. She is still here. I am not certain if I return her, that I can expect a better one. Where is their Quality Control?

I would not fix the problems with these dolls. I would return and expect a doll that is in perfect condition. After all Mattel expects are money to not be defective. These dolls are made in China for very low wages.

I bought my Kanani in April, and so far her wig is still pretty new looking. I read somewhere else on here about the un-even eyes before I got mine in the mail, which made me a little nervous. But when I got mine, the only complaint I had was that her shoes were off and the box was damaged. Wig was fine though.

Yep, the eyes are a problem with Kanani. I was lucky enough to choose mine at the store. They only had about 8 dolls to choose from and I only found 1 that had decent eyes. Her wig happens to be awesome so I think I got a perfect doll. I'm very happy with her.

I sent my first Kanani back because she had no curls in the back of her hair and the second one I got had lovely curls and they still are nice, but this all happened in January. I have no idea but I don't necessarily think they changed her wig but that there is a large difference in the quality of the curls of the wigs.

I had the same issues,I bought Kanani the day she was released and they sent 3 dolls to replace her,the eyes were the issue!!! I bought a new Kanani in Atlanta and everythings okay,I keep her hair in a braid to prevent badness,I looked through 10 dolls to find a good one with nice eyes!

A month ago I took my daughter to the DC store to handpick her Kanani doll. We are so picky about the wigs that I barely paid attention to her face. Two days later I realized that her left eye opening is smaller than the right. I didn't say anything to my daugher but she too noticed it about a week later. She opted not to "exchange" her because she feels attached to her regardless.
Well fast forward to yesterday. We visited the DC store again and I noticed that about 25% of the Kanani dolls they have in stock had the same quirk. One of the display dolls (the one wearing the Lu'au Set) is really bad. I asked one of the store clerks about it and she said she hadn't noticed it prior but could definately see it and I was the first customer she knew of to point it out!
So many members have commented about it since. I didn't realize this was a known issue. I'll have to be more cautious next time we are picking out dolls. Here is a photo of DD's Kanani

This is a known issue with the Jess mould.
(the Josie mold also has a similar issue, but it's not as pronounced or as common)
