Yep, the eyes are a problem with Kanani. I was lucky enough to choose mine at the store. They only had about 8 dolls to choose from and I only found 1 that had decent eyes. Her wig happens to be awesome so I think I got a perfect doll. I'm very happy with her.

I sent my first Kanani back because she had no curls in the back of her hair and the second one I got had lovely curls and they still are nice, but this all happened in January. I have no idea but I don't necessarily think they changed her wig but that there is a large difference in the quality of the curls of the wigs.

I had the same issues,I bought Kanani the day she was released and they sent 3 dolls to replace her,the eyes were the issue!!! I bought a new Kanani in Atlanta and everythings okay,I keep her hair in a braid to prevent badness,I looked through 10 dolls to find a good one with nice eyes!

Kanani is a beautiful doll. I give her an A+. Love her hair, her skin, her eyes, her outfit... I think the quality of this doll overall is very good. I am adding a picture here of Kanani with my #21 so you can see the difference in the eye color. The hazel eyes are known for coming up a bit different in different dolls. Kanani's appear to be darker than other hazels I have seen... Here is Kanani in multiple braids pulled to the back and opposite side: Here she is with her hair pulled to the side: Face close-up:

A month ago I took my daughter to the DC store to handpick her Kanani doll. We are so picky about the wigs that I barely paid attention to her face. Two days later I realized that her left eye opening is smaller than the right. I didn't say anything to my daugher but she too noticed it about a week later. She opted not to "exchange" her because she feels attached to her regardless. Well fast forward to yesterday. We visited the DC store again and I noticed that about 25% of the Kanani dolls they have in stock had the same quirk. One of the display dolls (the one wearing the Lu'au Set) is really bad. I asked one of the store clerks about it and she said she hadn't noticed it prior but could definately see it and I was the first customer she knew of to point it out! So many members have commented about it since. I didn't realize this was a known issue. I'll have to be more cautious next time we are picking out dolls. Here is a photo of DD's Kanani Rebecca

This is a known issue with the Jess mould.
(the Josie mold also has a similar issue, but it's not as pronounced or as common)

My DD's Kanani is like this. It's very slight. It doesn't bug my DD that much. She does recognize it though.

We knew about this issue with the Jess mold when we took DD to AGP in early January. We sifted through at least a dozen Kanani boxes before we found a doll that had more even eyes.

Yep, a lot of Kanani dolls have this issue. I looked through all of the Kanani dolls in the store (All 8 of them when she was on backorder online) and I only found 1 with decent looking eyes. I had to accept some broken hairs along the front of her wig but I just pulled those out and now she is pretty much perfect.

My Kanani was shipped to me directly from AG, and yes, she does have one eye opening slightly smaller than the other but I don't mind it. She looks like me in that way.

I thought that they did this on purpose because it's part of the same mold they used before and the human face is not perfectly symetrical and it makes her look more like a real girl?

Neither of the 2 Kanani dolls I got have the eye problem. I even measured them at all angles for fun and both eyes measure exactly the same. I guess I got ones that don't have the one small eye problem.

I looked through a few Kananis when I picked mine. All of them seemed to have slightly uneven eyes. I picked the one that looked the best to me... I think it is very slight in mine, almost impossible to detect... I have uneven eyes. They are so uneven I can't see out of my right eye (large, long eye shape). It bothers me a lot, it always has. We had these discussions about people having uneven eyes so dolls having uneven eyes just makes them more unique etc... but to me I do not like my uneven eyes so my opinion here is: if you feel like you want to exchange your Kanani for one with eyes that appeal more to you please do so, but you might have to go hand pick her...

I love Kanani! She is gorgeous! I waited so long to get her waffling back and forth, but I am so glad I got her! I went through about 5 Kanani's in August to try and find one with even eyes. I think I got a pretty girl! Her hair is a bit tough to take care of, but I do love styling it! More photos to come!

I wasn't the biggest fan of Kanani initially, but she slowly grew on me, more specifically her in her PJ outift. I didn't like her Meet outfit at first, either. The shoes are very hard to keep on her feet and fall off a lot, and the dress I thought was just okay. Now, it too has grown on me. Her hair is so much fun to play with and style if you know what you're doing, probably not the best for a younger child. From a totally unbiased standpoint, before I got her and she grew on me, I would have probably give her a B/B+. But now, despite all odds, she is actually the doll that I've bonded with the most and I adore her. Her outfits are really cute too. I might just have to get some before she packs up her things and hops on a plane back to Hawaii...

I honestly don't see any difference in this pic. The eyes look the same to me! Look at the amount of white showing in the inside corner of the eye on each side. If you look at the eye on the right side of the photo, you can see that much more of the eye is covered up, for a much smaller opening. The crescent is much less. Very noticeable to me in this photo. I've never seen a Kanani in person but I guarantee I wouldn't notice it unless it was pointed out. She has a very sweet looking face.

Kanani arrived in the mail today! After combing, misting and finger curling her hair to look nice rather than a puff ball, adjusting her style and pushing her shoes back on properly I give her an A overall. For individual grades: Hair: The matted mess she came with was not acceptable, I should not have had to fix it to look like it was supposed after just opening her. Overall: B- Outfit: So cute! Her dress looks gorgeous on her! I was originally not a fan of the blue, but seeing her in person it looks so pretty! The dress is made of light weight material and flows nicely, the little flower on the side is a cute touch. She has pink undies that are super cute! The shoes aren't great, I left the rubber bands on so that they stay on her little feet! Overall outfit: A Body/face mold: I love her face! The skin tone is beautiful and there is no gap in between her body and neck, as I have seen on some Nani's! She has the sweetest expression and it makes your heart melt! The hazel eyes are beautiful, they rival Lissy's green in beauty. Her left leg is a tad loose but not to bad. Overall: A+ Here's some photo's of my Nani!

I adore Kanani. Her hair is so beautiful and wavy. No wonder girls love playing with it. I've wanted a doll with a Jess face mold for a long time and when I picked up Kanani at the AGPNB she was prettier in person. I love everything about her except for the shoes she came with. They fit her funny and they don't always stay on. Her dress is really pretty and very breezy. Her necklace and flower clip bring the whole outfit together. I like how the clip holds a good amount of hair. I'll give Kanani's outfit a B- and Kanani herself a A+. The back of her hair. Her cute little face. Her shoes.

I got my Emma (Kanani) yesterday. As with some others, her hair was a bit tangled in the hair net, and I at first has a bit of difficulty, because the hairnet kept getting caught on the neck hook (?), so it was a bit of a pain to actually get her out of the box itself. Her skin is definitely not as dark as the stock photos were suggesting (relative to her hair). Her stuffing is a bit off, where her right upper chest by her shoulder seems a little understuffed. This is making her head tilt a bit, but I will fix that once I gather the courage to undo her neck strings. Her left eye is slightly smaller than her right, but it is not so extreme that I will return her. This is my first Jess mold, and I can see how some have complained that it does not look "Asian" enough. Emma seems to fit the bill more of an older Caucasian girl. Her meet outfit is alright. I got Emma with making an entirely different character in mind, so for the moment, I do not know what I will do with the outfit. I like the flower clip a lot, and will use it for my modern doll, Se Ah. As for the dress and sandals, I will probably just keep them for now. The blue is a bit bright for my personal taste (and Se Ah's). Emma is still wearing the sandals with the clear elastic since I do not have any shoes for her yet, but they seem a bit flimsy to me. This was a doll I was debating on, and now I am very happy I got her. She is definitely gorgeous, and fits the bill for the character I had in mind. She almost makes me just say, "Forget about Rebecca now, Emma is plenty, and fills in the gap I had of a curly haired, light brown haired doll." I can definitely see younger children having difficulty with her hair over time. I need to get a small spray bottle myself to work out her tangles, but for now, I put it in a loose braid until I have more time this weekend to work on her. Overall, A for the doll, B for the outfit. Edit: And the promised pictures... A couple of Emma close-ups: Emma with Se Ah:

I must admit I was very hesitant about purchasing Kanani, but it would be a better risk to buy her half-heartedly instead of waiting until it was too late. It was after I took her out of the box when I realized how beautiful she truly was. i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb462/mashkada1/DSCN4663.jpgI absolutely adore her face mold. I love the eyes especially. They are a hazel, but more on the brown side as compared with Rebecca's. i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb462/mashkada1/DSCN4664.jpgMy favorite part of Kanani is her hair. It was frizzy when I took her out of the box (as pictured) but I'm in love with the length and the waves- I'm a sucker for curls and waves Kanani doll came with a Dress, underwear, sandals, a lei hair clip, necklace, and book. I think the necklace is of very good quality; The sandals not so much. I'm content with the dress but it feels to be made out of thin and cheap fabric. I think the hair clip is a cute addition. Overall: Doll- A+ Outfit= B- i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb462/mashkada1/DSCN4671.jpgHappy addition to my doll family mod edit to remove oversized, embedded images

I cannot seem to get a photo that does my doll justice. She is... oh wow... utterly beautiful and I am so glad that I got down off the fence and ordered her. If my Kanani's very pretty hazel eyes are not both exactly the same size, I cannot for the life of me tell. I do like her colouring while acknowledging that AG could/should have given her dark eyes and darker hair. Her stringing seems just right and the doll is nicely balanced and stands easily. She sits pretty well too, without legs splayed too far. I did pull an arm out (poor doll!) a bit and noticed a seemingly different arrangement inside. From the ground up: I think Kanani's sandals are the least pleasing part of her outfit. They are 'ok' but the elastic around the back instead of a proper strap and buckle fastening is annoying and screams 'cheap shortcut'. I am fussy about my doll shoes. I like them to look like the real thing in miniature detail. I like Kanani's sundress very much. The fabric is lightweight (it IS a sundress after all) but looks fresh and cool rather than cheap. The flower accent on the front and the little sequins placed randomly are pretty touches not overdone. Her undies are a bright pink with the motif from the necklace in a paler colour at one hip. The necklace spacer beads are glaringly plastic, the large painted ones not so much (though I know they are). It's a doll necklace and I can deal. The flower hairclip ties in with the dress print without being overly 'matchy'. It's very pretty. I love long hair but confess, I had a brief, 'what was I thinking??!' moment when I saw how VERY long Kanani's hair is. It is silky and beautiful though and didn't come out of the hairnet too messy at all. It was an easy thing to mist each wavy lock and gently brush it out, starting from the ends and working up. As a careful adult I think it will be fun to play with and style but I'll probably keep Kanani's hair in a loose plait for safe keeping a lot of the time in between. Kanani is a beautiful, looks-and-feels-like quality play doll from head to toe (as long as you ignore her shoes ) and she gets a solid A+ from me.

Kanani is very pretty. I had little interest in getting her, though (content to look at pictures here) until I saw her in person and fell in love. I love her hair! It is long and I agree could be hard for a young girl to deal with, but I think it will be a lot of fun to style and play with. I was worried about small eye because I didn't get to pick my Kanani in person. My sister has Jess and #30 and both have small eye. But, I lucked out and my Kanani doesn't seem to have it. I really like the Jess mold with the medium skin tone. My Kanani has a bit of a head tilt - which I know is fixable, but I think it's adorable and can make her look a bit shy or a little coy and teasing depending on the angle you look at it! I like the dress. It's simple and made of lightweight cotton. I think it will work great as a summer sundress. The color is a very pretty light blue. Mine doesn't seem to be too big. Grade: AI was a little disappointed the necklace has a ribbon instead of a clasp, but it works fine. It feels obviously plastic, though, but it looks cute with the dress. Grade: BThe flower is just a fabric flower on a clip but I think it's something my dolls will use a lot. It's a fun hair accessory. It does seem a little fragile. Grade: B+The shoes feel flimsy to me and I suspect they do not stay on well without the clear elastic they come with. I haven't taken them off yet to know for sure. Grade: C+I don't think I can grade the doll objectively (I like her so I got her) but my overall grade for her meet outfit is B+. Extra points for all of these parts coming with the doll. I thought for sure the necklace or flower clip would have been part of the accessories. Some pictures of Jessica (she looked cold so I gave her a sweater):

I got Kanani for Christmas and I must say, she is very pretty. Some say they are bothered by her eyes but I don't mind them at all. Her hair is not as problematic as it might look, it brushes out fine and then finger curls nicely. I like to put it up in foam rollers overnight occasionally to set and enhance her curls. For a young girl, it may be a little difficult to manage but she is my first curly haired doll and I have no problem. I lover her tanned skin tone and Hawaiian culture. Overall, a beautiful photogenic doll.

IMO, Kanani is the prettiest doll AG has made besides, maybe Caroline and Sonali. I got Kanani last Christmas. I know a lot of people don't like her eye color, but I personality love them. They are a dark hazel, much darker than Lanie, my other hazel eyed doll. Her hair is hard to manage, but it can easily finger curl after brushing it out lightly. Kanani's meet outfit isn't my favorite, but I do think it looks better in person. Her clip-on flower goes good with a lot of outfits. I don't have any problem with her sandals slipping off her feet. Kanani gets an A+.
