This set was originally called the Kitty Cat Costume when it sold from 2007-08. It was re-released in 2010 sans stick-on earrings, book, treat bag, and pretend treats but with a charm added. This is the new cat costume ($28). It is really really cute! Comes with: A sparkly mini dress with faux-fur collar and cuffs
Matching black leggings, a cat-ear headband, stick-on earrings, a velvet-and-sequin collar, and shoes with cat-claw stitching
Plus a candy-corn-shaped treat bag and pretend candy
Includes the Mini Mini Mysteries 2 book for girls Everything that comes with the outfit The Kitty shoes The kitty collar (it has little sequins on it) The little Kitty ears and top of the costume The Black Leggings

I just received this that I ordered on sale this month for $22. The dress part is black, shimmery crushed velvet with fake fur trim on the neck and cuffs. It is very thin and fragile and quite hard to put on. It has a non-poseable fluff-filled plush tail in the back. The dress closes in the back with velcro. The leggings are black legging material and will go well with other mix and match outfits. They are very tight and hard to get on but when you finally get them on your doll, the look is what AG intended, I'm sure. A sleek, black kitty costume. The collar is just a pink ribbon with five pink sequins sewed onto it. Could easily rip but also could easily be made from things you have at home. It closes in the back with velcro too. The shoes are soft and plushy and well made. They have tiny pink embroidered 'claws' on them. Very cute. They fit very well. Since these shoes are made more like slippers though, the doll tends to fall over often. Kind of hard to stand on fluff filled soles! The headband too, is very nice and well made. It is covered with crushed velvet with embroidered pink inner ears. Seems pretty sturdy and should last. The candy-corn treat bag is just thick paper and will probably be easily torn. The little fake candy treat is adorable! The stick on earrings are a plus. I'm not sure I'll use them with the Kitty Costume, but they will be handy with other outfits. This set also comes with the book Mini, Mini Mysteries 2. Overall grade would be a B. The pieces are great, but I'm afraid parts will easily rip or tear considering the thinness of the material. Close up of the collar Kailey in the new Kitty Costume Close up of the 'paws' Side view so you can see the tailETA: Better keep the lint brush handy. Kailey had many black fur tidbits stuck on her torso when I took the outfit off!

I received this outfit for Christmas 2010 with the intention of modifying it (removing the tail) and using it as a black dress suitable for parties. However, I will review it as if I were using it as a costume.
Basically, it is the same as the previous black cat costume dress, but it does not come with the fun extras- such as the treat bag, faux candy, stick-on-earrings, etc.
The dress: A fun, black velvet dress with faux fur trim on the sleeves and neckline. The tail in the back is sturdy and posable. This dress fits like a glove; I love how it fits the dolls perfectly. Grade: A+
The leggings: Nothing special, just a very versatile pair of black leggings. They are perfect for mixing and matching. Grade: A+
The shoes: Cute, soft-bottomed flats with pink stitching to resembled cat paws. Cute, but I wish the bottom was sturdy. Grade: A
The accessories: The cute pink ribbon choker necklace resembles a glammed-up cat collar; it has tiny, sequined embellishments on it. It's currently being worn by one of my Coconuts as a collar. The cat ear headband is adorable as well; it's very sturdy and will hold up to play. Grade: A+
I am very pleased/impressed with the quality of this set; I would recommend it to anybody. Overall grade: A+

Cute costume, and the leggings have mix-and-match potential with other outfits. Two minor warnings: It is a bit difficult to get the shoes on, but thankfully, once they're on, they stay on, and it catches fur very easily if you have pets, as all black does. My advice would be to keep your doll, when she's in this costume, away from your pets. Besides those two minor cons, this costume is a must have. Grade: A

we bought this for a bitty twin if anyone is thinking of doing this it does work but the collar is too small to go around the neck and the shoes fall off more than other shoes would. But overall it does workfor the twins and is very cute on!

This outfit is adorable for Halloween. The dress is so cute and fun, and the ears make the costume. The shoes fall off very easily, though. The best part is the leggings. They're basic black, and they can be used beyond Halloween. They have endless mix and match potential.

Thought I'd add a comparison shot to this and the other cat costume's review in case someone is trying to decide which to get. Overall, I like both, but the 1998 one wins because I love the mask and the mouse. The collar and treat bag are more substantial and realistic on that one too.

Our ears broke yesterday. The costume is super cute but I am sad about our headband.
