This is my #49; Ava! I think she's one of the most beautiful dolls AG has made. Her combo makes her look like a tanned little girl. (she could easily be from a hawaiian to a middle eastern girl)
I've found interesting how some find her skin too dark and others too light in the pictures, in my opinion; it depends under which 'light' she is. When I take pictures of her during the day, she looks like a light skin toned AG but if I do it during the night, she appears very dark, which makes her even more unique, lol
Her hair is very easy to style; she's got a thick wig and it's long enough for little girls to have fun with it with no trouble.
Some have pointed out that they think AG's newer "medium" skin tone has gotten lighter over the years and some have also said that #49 has a lighter skin tone than the other medium skin tone dolls. Curiously, my 1998 PM Josefina has the same skin tone as Mattel Caitlin (#49).

I just purchased this girl(she doesn't even have a name yet) I find her stunning. I had my son help pick out a doll and it came down to her and a number 39, he ultimately chose her. I love her blue eyes against her dark hair and skin tone and I love her side part and how her hair has very subtle highlights to it. In different lighting she also appears lighter or darker. I haven't tried any outfits on her yet but so far she's a gorgeous girl

I bought her for myself, and she is JUST beautiful in everything I put her in, let me see if I can dig up some pics:
Once I saw her on the cover of one of the catalogs we received last fall I could not resist her, she is just so stunning, now we even have the snow flurry set that she was in on the cover...Woohoo! My daughter loves her too, but I don't normally let her play w/ Paisley(#49), because she has 5 dolls of her own.

They do look very similar. For me, if they were not separated by time periods, I don't think I would own both. I keep Ruthie historical and she does no time traveling. My #49, Katie, is modern, so the two are never really interacting together.
