Some have pointed out that they think AG's newer "medium" skin tone has gotten lighter over the years and some have also said that #49 has a lighter skin tone than the other medium skin tone dolls. Curiously, my 1998 PM Josefina has the same skin tone as Mattel Caitlin (#49).

She is such a gorgeous girl. Her blue eyes are striking against her medium skin and dark hair. Her hair is also very thick compared to some of the other MyAG dolls.

I just love my Anais.
She has big bright beautiful blue eyes that pop agaisnt her medium skin.
This doll has a nice thick wavy wig that has loads of short hair that covers up the wig cap so the color you see is the black and brown blended hair when you pull her hair into twin pig tails.
She is hands down one of the most unique My American Girl dolls that AG has.

I love my Ava-Grace. She has such a sweet face and her eyes are gorgeous. Her hair is so thick and easy to take care of. I love seeing what different outfits look best on her.

I just purchased this girl(she doesn't even have a name yet) I find her stunning. I had my son help pick out a doll and it came down to her and a number 39, he ultimately chose her. I love her blue eyes against her dark hair and skin tone and I love her side part and how her hair has very subtle highlights to it. In different lighting she also appears lighter or darker. I haven't tried any outfits on her yet but so far she's a gorgeous girl

She came today! She is very beautiful. I am leaning towards an "L" name, maybe Lucy, Lena or Lorelei. I really adore how thick her wig is. It was cloudy and crappy here so I couldn't get a good outdoor shot, but here she is. #49 by kgabor19, on Flickr

They do look very similar. For me, if they were not separated by time periods, I don't think I would own both. I keep Ruthie historical and she does no time traveling. My #49, Katie, is modern, so the two are never really interacting together.

Here's Pippa in the dress with boots she already had. I think she looks fabulous in it....but I think #49 looks great in everything.
