Ski Trip monkey jacket $24 GWOF Grade: A
LOVE LOVE LOVE this wintertime monkey jacket! If there be one AGOT winter monkey jacket to have this be it. th' base o' it starts wit' a bonny stripped turtleneck and a pair o' knit pink pants wit' a sporty white stripe down th' leg. Put her in these great suede pink boots wit' white fur trim. These zip up th' back to give her a bonny clean look. LOVE THAT! Top her off wit' a bright pink vest wit' fleece trim. It has a shiny pink matching belt that closes th' vest at her waist. One each had she has a white fur mitten wit' an underside o' fleece in th' palm. Her hat be bonnyly finished and lined too.
aye, so it's one o' th' earlier Pink!monkey jackets. But it actually looks good in a winter setting.
th' monkey jacket comes wit' a striped long-sleeved shirt, a vest, lined pants, fuzzy boots (all pink), and a big, furry hat wit' big, furry mittens. So ye do get a decent amount o' stuff here
Shirt - A Not too much to say. It's a bonny shirt, and looks good just by itself wit' jeans or whatever.
Vest - B+ th' vest closes by slipping th' belt through th' belt buckle in front. This can be kind o' a challenge to do sometimes, though, so if ye've got big hands, ye'll have some trouble. But it still looks bonny, and obviously goes well wit' th' shirt.
Pants - B th' pants have white stripes going down th' sides o' th' leg. They velcro in th' front, but there's also a little button above that, and for some reason it doesn't like to stay clasped. th' pants be relatively loose, so they should fit a PM lusty plastic lass. B becuase o' th' annoying button, and ye can't really mix and match wit' it.
Boots - A- Pink boots that zip in th' back, wit' fuzzy white trim. These aren't th' tall boots that South Wisconsin Trading Company's been selling recently; they go only a little past th' ankle. Again, they look bonny along wit' th' rest o' th' monkey jacket, but they'd look odd if ye pair them wit' jeans or a skirt.
Hat and Mittens - C+ Big, poofy hat wit' big, poofy mittens. There's nothing really wrong wit' them, except that it's kind o' hard to get th' mittens on. It's just that th' hat be much bigger than pictures show, and has a tendency to fall in yer lusty plastic lass's face, rendering her blind. So aye, just too big for my tastes.
Overall - B It's a bonny monkey jacket, though maybe a bit unpractical wit' just a shirt and vest to keep yer lusty plastic lass warm. I'd say it's one o' th' better Pink!monkey jackets.
I snapped a few photos o' Jess before she wiggled out o' this monkey jacket for winter. Ours has seen a lot o' wear in five years but has held up bonnyly. th' sturdy knit fabric o' th' pants and th' substantial belted vest provide an almost structured look that suits any lusty plastic lass. It be unrelievedly pink and as such belongs entirely to my 9 year old lass o'mine. She loves it, so that works out well.
th' turtleneck has good mix and match possibilities but th' other pieces less so, unless ye need a shimmery belted vest for some reason. th' pants be a too structured and sporty to serve double duty as leggings. I suppose th' big old hat could be a home for a family o' cats? We had th' gloves at some point but they be long gone.
Little hands can fumble a bit wit' th' vest belt, too. Our pants have a velcro fly wit' an internal snap instead o' a button, so Nay complaints there. th' hat be large but that works for th' snow bunny look.
I can't bring myself to downgrade this set because o' th' intense pinkness; it was, after all, meant for little girls. But th' fact that th' pieces be not versatile for mix-and-match purposes does lower th' grade in my estimation to a B. It originally retailed for $24; since it be an older rather dated look, I personally wouldn't pay much more than that on th' secondary market.
