Rock Climbing Outfit $24 GDOM Grade: A A little confusing to put on. Especially if you aren't knowledgeable about how they work. Pretty accurate for what they are like. I really think it is a cool set. Very unique. The base of the set is the orange spandex tank with red thread. A pair of knee length biking shorts with orange piping and a gray sport stripe down each leg. There is also her red fleece with orange trimmings for her to wear if it gets breezy. The harness is a great fit. It is also adjustable through the shoulders for the newer dolls that are a little taller in the torso. The dolls legs go through the leg openings and the adjustable straps over the shoulders. I then use two of the three carabineers to clip her harness closed in the front. Safety first a harness like this should close in the front and I don't know why there wasn't a clip built in. Here you get a nice detail shot of the outfit's piping, the chalk bag and the harness design. You can also see one of the carabineers. We got Silver, light pink, and dark pink with ours. I have looked into other places to see if I can find some this same size and haven't found any yet. Lastly are her pretty purple faux suede climbing shoes with their soft rubber soles.

This outfit is too freakin' cute. One of my favorites! I love the little details, like the chalk bag. The shoes are about my favorite AG shoes. Looks great on almost all my girls, too.

I'm so happy you added the pictures! I couldn't figure out how to put the harness on! Guess it could be because I never rock climb before! lol Kimmy and I tried it on so many ways! I finally just set it down and gave up!
It's on! Thanks!
This has always been one of my favorite outfits!

I got this outfit in 2004 for my Nellie dolls as a birthday gift from a friend. I really like it. It's one of my favorite JLY/GOT outfits. I also love the details in this outfit! It looks nice on almost every one of my dolls (the only one I don't like it on is Ruthie). I give it an A+! Here's a pic of #3 wearing it with out the jacket:

We got this outfit for Ashley the year it came out. Though the colors are rather...bold, it works for a regular exercise/sport outfit, too, if you get rid of the harness and shoes. The jacket - I love fleece sweaters on AG, for some reason. This one seems sturdier, it hasn't pilled as much as some of the other fleece pieces. Edged in orange piping, it zips up the front with a red plastic zipper. There's a patch on the front with a mountain and the letters "AG". Nice all around, and Ashley loves red, so that's a bonus. AThe tank - as SailAway said, the tank is a simple shell made of spandex. It gets extra embellishment with red chain-stitching up the front. It velcros up the back with the thinner velcro, but it still tends to snag the fabric. Also, some might consider the bright orange rather garish. BThe shorts - these are a nice, athletic pair of stretchy biking shorts. These are thicker than the tank top and pull on with elastic. They look even sportier because of the orange and silver trimming. AThe shoes - though the flat, slick soles tend to designate these as specifically "rock-climbing" shoes, if you aren't really too particular you could disguise these as a pair of sneakers, too. The uppers of these shoes appear to be real suede dyed purple, lacing up with flat black laces. I think they are really cute. A The ponytail holders - generic little hair elastics in bright red to match the jacket. They don't have a ton of stretch and one of them broke on my sister. B-The harness & chalk bag- this is such a cool, unique piece! It consists of wide, woven, black nylon straps. They are decorated with designs in fabric paint which looks like some doofusy touch there would be at camp or a rock-climbing place. It goes on easily, with the help of a set of instructions that were included. The three metal carabiners are nice, I think ours were silver, pink and purple. A+ for accuracy. The chalk bag is a tiny little drawstring pouch made of slippery red nylon: B.

In my opinion, this is one of the best modern outfits AG has ever offered. As a climbing enthusiast, I really appreciate the doll-size gear, complete with colorful carabineers, a chalk bag, and double heel loop climbing shoes.
It's not a perfect set, of course. The hair ties bit the dust almost immediately; the tank snags on its own velcro; and the carabineers are easily lost. I'm also not 100% sold on the harness. I wish it wasn't full-body, since those are typically used by pregnant women or very young children. And if it had to be full-body, I wish it had a strap across the waist.
But overall, I LOVE this outfit. I love the bold color combo, without a hint of pastel. I love the variety and authenticity of fabrics used, from the shoelaces to the chalk bag. And I love that my doll can climb like me! It's stylish, unique, and looks great after 12+ years of play.
I hope AG will make another climbing outfit someday! This one gets an A from me.

Like jilliannoelle, I'm also a rock climber. I love that this outfit actually looks like something a climber would wear- functional, cute, not overly girly or decorated yet detailed in all the right ways. The jacket is a nice thick fleece with a zipper on the front. It feels very well made. The orange shirt is my least favorite part of the outfit. It's not very pretty and the material snags on its own velcro so easily. To be fair though, it looks quite nice with the whole outfit. I just don't think I'd ever pair it with anything else. The shorts look surprisingly similar to the pair that my fiance wears for climbing . Plus, it has real working pockets! The climbing shoes are spot on! The two loops on the back, the way the sole rubber curves up in the back, and the texture of the rubber are just great. I do agree that the harness would've been better if it were not full body. I have not seen this style used on kids older than 3 or 4 (with the exception of pregnant woman, again like jilliannoelle said). The carabiners are adorable. They open and close like real ones, except scaled way down. The chalkbag's material is too shiny/slippery for my taste, but then again, my personal chalkbag is a lizard tail made out of fuzzy fleece, so I might be biased here. Overall, I would recommend this outfit if you're interested in accurate functional clothes for your doll. Here are some pictures of the outfit on my slightly modified Jess:
