This is the 2003 limited edition holiday dress. It is red velvert lined with red satin. The dress has mini bell sleeves and an empirish waist, it "buckles" with rhinestones in a square. The dress also has rhinestones in the shape of snowflakes around the bottom corner. Along with the dress is a long white coat with sequins (white) in the snowfake pattern along the bottom. All this comes with matching slip on shoes. I give this outfit an A++

First and foremost, thank you so much for the review. I just have some questions.
- How would you describe the shade of the dress? A cool red close to cranberry, or a warm red like a tomato? What dolls do you put it on? Which ones does it look best on?
- Is the velvet crushed or more solid?
- Are the shoes easy to put on? Can a doll stand up well in them? What do you think of the style per se- something a 10 year old would wear?
- The coat is what concerns me the most. Does it look appropriate for tweens? Sensible for winter?
I know I am being nitpicky. But I am a very curious person.

IN order: 1. The dress is a tomato red, like a holly berry if you will. I adore #21 in it her eyes look awesome with red. Also kailey and Ivy. I think your Elsie would look lovely in it. 2. Solid 3. I would have worn this when I was 10, The shoes are adorable but slid off easily. So if you have the doll JUST standing its fine, they will stay on. 4. I love the coat, very mature looking

B: It’s cute but I like some of the other Christmas outfits better
The set comes with a cute berry-colored dress (neither cranberry nor a true red), slip on shoes, tights and a coat. The knee length dress is adorable and dressy with its bell-shaped sleeves, sparkly snowflake appliqué and ‘diamond belt’. I can definitely picture a little girl wearing this during the holiday season. I love that the dress is lined, as it makes it seem more elegant.
While the shoes are cute, they are not very practical. I have a terrible time trying to get them to stay on dolls’ feet. They fit similar to Josefina’s birthday shoes and are a little too narrow for some of the Pre-Mattel feet. The tights are typical AG tights, which tend to snag easily.
The coat is not very practical and looks too grown-up for the dolls in my opinion. It is made of faux suede with faux fur. It also has little snowflakes in the corner. I have a terrible time keeping faux fur looking nice and my coat already looks a little worn after 3 years. The coat is hardly ever used at my house.
The worst thing about the dress is that it has been known to bleed. My friend’s daughter had the dress bleed all over the doll, when they took her to a Holiday party. I always have my doll wear a slip with this dress so that it doesn’t bleed onto her cloth body. So far the slip looks alright, but the tights have a pink line.
I think the dress looks best on dark-haired dolls. I like it best on my AGT#25. It also looks cute on AGT#2, old AGT#6, AGT#10, AGT#19 and AGT#28. I'm sure it looks stunning on AGT#26 too, but I don't have her yet. I don’t care for the dress on my redheads (#5 and #17) or the blond curly haired dolls, but that could just be me.

I would also like to add a comment about this outfit. KEEP IT DRY.
IF you store the two pieces together and it gets damp.... the red of the dress will fade into the white coat. (It's almost like if you wore a red leather vest and perspired... and you would have red on the shirt underneath). If you leave your doll in the outfit for a length of time, I believe the dress would fade to her body as well as the coat. This is my only complaint about the outfit. The granddaughters love it and the accessories.

Lovely velvet/velour (?) dress, matching shoes, tights, and white pleathery coat with faux fur trim. I think this is the loveliest of the holiday outfits, though the coat really isn't my style at all. I like the classic silhouette of the dress, with the slight bell sleeves, the empire-esque waist, and A-line skirt. The shoes are lovely and not too overdone. Like many other holiday shoes, they don't lend themselves easily to other outfits. Unfortunately, they are of the sort that tends to fall off easily- and be slightly frustrating when balancing the doll to stand upright. Overall, its shortcomings are minor- and outweighed by the general smartness of the outfit.

I just wanted to warn you guys about storing this outfit...I put the red dress inside the white coat for storage and the red dress stained the coat all over the inside (luckily on the inside only) and the tights that happen to be touching it got stained too! So if you guys have these stored together in any way, I would be careful and store the red dress and shoes separately!

I had the same thing happen to me around the arms of the coat and the butt of the tights.

Updating my old review!
New review (19 August 2014):
The Radiant Rhinestones Outfit is my favourite holiday dress. The outfit comes with a red velvet dress, standard white tights, red velvet mules, a white suede coat, and a gold hanger. I recieved this outfit as a gift on Christmas 2003, and it was my very first modern AG outfit.
There are rhinestones and snowflakes embroidered on lower right part of the dress and a belt with rhinestone detail - adds a cute touch! The bodice of the dress is lined with a red satin material. The mules are made of the same red velvet material as the dress and have little velvet bows and rhinestones on the front of the shoe.
The red velvet on the dress and mules does have a horrible tendency to stain doll vinyl and cloth. My tights are stained red where they've come into contact with the velvet. This does not bother me, as I only use these tights with this outfit. However, I would advise caution with storage and would not recommend leaving this outfit on a doll for an extended length of time.
The coat that comes with this outfit is also very sweet, though I rarely use it. It's made of suede and faux fur and features embroidered snowflakes and sequins on the front.
The hanger is also unique to this outfit. It's gold and says, "2003 / Holiday Limited Edition / American Girl".
Overall, I'd give this outfit an A because while it's my favourite, it does stain.
Old review:
This is my favourite Christmas outfit ever made by AG! I love every detail: how it’s lined like a real dress and coat, the sequin and rhinestone details, and the sleeves. I really love the sleeves. They have a very nice bell-shape to them, subtle, but lovely. The shoes are adorable too, with their rhinestones and bows, but they don’t stay on the doll’s feet very well as they have no backs. This dress and shoes are also notorious for staining dolls and the tights, but as long as your doll doesn’t wear it for more than a couple weeks of the holiday season, she should be fine.
My grade: A

This is another outfit I have been wanting for years but usually went too far out of my price range whenever I would bid. I finally won it! It is missing the tights but I thought I would post a picture of the shoes first. They are slip on with a small bow on each side and a decent sized rhinestone in the middle of the bow. They are velvet and I don't see them being used for much other than this dress.
The red looks a beautiful burgundy in Colette's photos but mine definitely resemble the holly berry mentioned above. I didn't get the glasses that are supposed to go with it and the seller sent a red velvet bow pony tail holder that is a shade darker than the dress so I don't think that's supposed to go with this outfit.
I really like it with the jacket.

This outfit is absolutely stunning. I've wanted it ever since it came out in 2003, but it was so hard to find in a suitable price range for me! I finally snagged the almost complete set off of Ebay last week, and I couldn't be happier. All I need now is to get one for my own. Dress: A beautiful holly berry coloured velvet dress lined with satin. It has a slightly darker belt (at least on my dress) with a circular rhinestone buckle at the waist, and it has snowflakes on the hem made out of slight embroidery, and rhinestones. I think this dress is so elegant! A+ The dress: Back of Dress: The rhinestone belt: Snowflakes at hem: The shoes are holly berry velvet mules to match the dress and each have a bow on the side. In the center of each bow is one big rhinestone. The only problem with these shoes tend to be that they can slide off sometimes. B+ The shoes: The coat is beautiful! It's made out of a creamish coloured suede fabric (I think) and is trimmed with faux fur along the neckline, hem, and sleeve cuffs. On the bottom on both sides of the coat, there's snowflake embroidery. The only problem I find with this coat is that it can be very hard to put on without causing the sleeves to get pushed up all the way to the dolls shoulders, making her look very odd. A Coat: Coat on doll: I don't have the tights that came with this set so I used some of my own tights. I did hear about this set staining both the doll, coat and tights though, so I took some extra precautions to put my doll Breanna into this outfit. The tights I have are not AG brand, and they happen to be very big. So to protect most of Breanna's body since I didn't have a slip, I pulled the tights all the way up to her chest as high as they could go. I then took some extra ballet legwarmers I have for my dolls, and slid them up each arm all the way to her shoulders to prevent her arms staining. She looks crazy in these but i'm hoping it'll work until I atleast get a slip. I didn't keep the dress on long enough to know if this worked, but i'm hoping that once the holidays come by, and Breanna's stuck in the dress all December, that this helps against staining. As for keeping the coat staing free, i'm keeping both it, and the dress seperate in storage, and the coat will probably stay off most of the time. Overall though, this set is beautiful. It's wonderful quality, and Breanna will be sure to wear it for many holidays to come. I give the whole set an A+.

I have this outfit as well. I like it except the inside of my coat is pink. Does anyone have recommendations to clean it?

This is my favorite of all of AG holiday dresses. I was able to get a complete set off of eBay two months ago with some of the accessories for $33! I love the dress-a nice shade of red-not too overpowering or blinding. I haven't left it on long enough for it to bleed, but I'm a little worried about that, so this probably won't be on for more than a few days. I like the rhinestone detail on the side and the tiny buckle and empire waist. A+ I like the coat and I don't think it's TOO grown-up looking. Certainly more mature than some of the AG dresses, but not bad. The coat's sleeves are lined, but not the whole thing-it would have been much better if it were. A- The shoes match the dress' material perfectly and are pretty easy to get on, but the problem is them staying on. If the doll were staying in one place, fine, but these aren't ideal for moving around a lot. B I think white tights look better with this outfit than the cream you get, but the cream are very thick and are better for other outfits. A Overall, you get a lot in this set. The coat can be worn separately giving it a bit of mix-match potential. Overall, A. (Would have been A+ if the dress wasn't so prone to bleeding).

Well, for $20 off craigslist, I don't mind the outfit. However, it's not my favourite holiday outfit, but it still works well and is cheery. The color is a berry-red smooth velvet dress with a square cut neckline and falls right above the knees. The tights are just basic white tights, nothing special. The jacket is microfiber trimmed with fur and embedded with rhinestones. My favourite part of the outfit would have to be the shoes. Although they fall off easily, they are adorable and complete the outfit. They can be worn without tights to match with other outfits as well. I personally think this first picture is the best way to wear this, sans jacket.

I don't have much to add to the other reviews, but this dress is beautiful. Very festive with it's nice bright red velvet. I personally like the dress by itself, but the coat is lovely too. Well made, I give it an A+.

The dress is gorgeous, but sometimes I leave a doll in a particular outfit for a very long time and I was afraid this would stain, so my dolls rarely wore it lest I forget and dye them red. Never was too fond of the coat.
