I got a really good look at this set in the store (literally took the doll in the last picture off the stand and microanalyzed the outfit and ball) and took pics of it. I was torn between it and the Soccer Star Set released in 2010, and ultimately chose the latter for Ellie (#21), my soccer player.
The set consists of a jersey, shorts, two white plastic shin guards (mini-replicas of ones I wore at age 12), a pair of pink socks, a pair of cleats, a soccer ball, and a charm.
The outfit itself is well constructed. The shin guards are durable plastic, replicas of people-sized ones that you can buy. The socks are nice and thick. The cleats are realistic and well made. The jersey and shorts are also realistic.
What caused me to choose the older Soccer Star set was the horrible soccer ball with this set and the lack of accessories.
The soccer ball is hollow, thin, cheap plastic, the kind you'd expect from a cat toy or an Our Generation doll prop, not AG. It is not indented, it is not realistic in any way aside from the fact that it is proper scale.
There are also no accessories. No hair ties, no gym bag, no nothing.
So at $34, this set seems obnoxious in price compared to the Soccer Star set. So while I loved the colors on this set more, I got the Soccer Star set instead, because the Soccer Star set comes with more and the ball is more realistic looking.
The set is also sold with the "Fair" square charm.
Grade: B- (for price point, lack of accessories, and poor quality soccer ball)
