Emily wore this outfit in the DVD Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front but it is not referenced in any of the books. Released in 2006, retired in 2013.
With wartime rationing, Emily would be happy with any new clothes. But this frilly outfit is soooo beautiful! Her purple party dress has a full skirt, flower appliqué, and ribbon sash, and comes with lace ankle socks. Gently put the drop-pearl necklace around her neck and tie back her hair with the ribbon flower bow. Includes trading cards.
I just received Emily's holiday dress for Christmas. It's soooo adorable!
It's a very lovley shade of purple and the fabric has a nice feel to it. It has a lovley light purple ribbon flower on it as well as a light purple ribbon and bow at the waist and ruffly light purple ribbon trim at the end of the sleeves.
Her white socks feature deliciate lace trim at the top so when you fold down the socks, the lace hovers gently above Emily's shoes.
The pearl drop necklace is also lovley. It features an easy to open and close magnetic clasp and hangs from a dainty silver chain.
It also comes with a bow for Emily's hair. The bow is a light purple to match the flower and ribbon trim of her dress and features tiny pearls in the middle. It's attached to a dark purple hair band so you can tie Emily's hair up into a small pony tail.
This outfit was beyond my expectations and I adore it! It's going to become an instant favorite of mine!
A++++
Pictures coming soon!

This has to be one of my favorite outfits for Emily. It is just so cute on her.I just love this dress. It is very nice that the necklace clasp is magnetic so you dont hurt your fingers trying to get the one part in.Instead of tieing her hair in a pony tail i brought the front of her hair on each side back and tied it.Looks very cute on her.It is better in real life than online pictures.Once i get the chance i will take a picture and post it.

A - I received this dress for Christmas and it is very pretty. It is a little tight on my Emily but I think it is supposed to be a tight around her waist and chest. The only warning I might suggest is: be careful to cover all of the velcro in the back of the dress. The material of the dress sticks to the velcro and if you pull if off, it pulls at the fabric of the dress. Be careful!
Other than that, I love this dress. Especially the pearl necklace. It is so easy to put on. I would recommend this dress!

This dress is lovely, and the detail on the ribbonand the rosette on the dress is very nice- they have little pearls on them. The fabric is different, the purple shade is stunning on Emily, it's thin fabric so be sure that Emily wears her little pantie things as a slip, or you can kind of see her legs through the fabric. The lace detail on the socks is also very nice. I love the pearl drop necklace, and my Emily wears it all the time. It has a magnetic clasp. My only qualm is I just wish it were a tiny, hair, bit longer because it gets stuck down in Emily's neck where her head is attached. Overall: A Necklace

And I just found out this outfit has a pearl necklace. Must have gotten lost when I bought it from AGPC. It's a beautiful necklace and all.
Anyhow, I like this outfit a lot overall. The design and color work well for Emily. The hairtie can grab various amounts of hair. A+

I was a tad disappointed by the fabric, which felt cheap and overly synthetic. But the coloring (especially with my #25 black hair) won me over.

There's a tag on the hairbow that I'm going to have to cut off in order to make it not show. Also, my necklace is not magnetic, and was actually really hard to get on (bought in 2009). Other than that, it's cute. Love the socks.
I give it a B.

My DD received Emily's holiday outfit for her birthday and when we tried to put the necklace on her new Emily it was waaaayyyy too small. I actually thought maybe it was supposed to be a bracelet for a girl but after looking again online it is of course Emily's necklace. Is this a common thing or is mine defective?

Mine fits rather snugly, but it does fit. I am able to clasp it closed fairly easily, but I can see how it would be difficult for a child. I think a few extra links would have been nice.

E also has this problem with her necklace. Usually she gets me or her dad to do it for her. I wonder if I could get our jeweler to put a few more links in there. If you can't get it on the doll, call customer service and ask for a replacement. I think it will work out.

Mine actually has a bit more give than KitandKat's, I think. It hangs past the lace around the neck of Em's Holiday Dress.

It's snug, but I haven't had that much trouble getting it fastened. Maybe call CS?

Mine is pretty snug and fits more like a choker than a necklace, though. I don't mind that, but I can see how it would be difficult for a young child to put on. I would call AG and see if you could get a replacement choker.

I have this dress and it really did not look as nice as the other holiday outfits that I have this past winter season. I tried it on a number of dolls and it just didn't have the pizzaz or substance that the other outfits, including Molly and Addy's holiday dresses had.
I think the color and fabric will be better for a spring dressy dress, and I am going to try it them. It just faded next to the purpley blue holiday 2010 MyAG dress, but I think will be fine with the lighter colored spring clothes.

I LOVE this dress which I just received for my birthday but there is a problem. The ribbon around the waist is much to big! I emailed my PS about this and told her I would like to do an exchange. She just emailed me back and told me that she went through all her boxes of this dress. She said all the ribbons were loose around the waist. She even tried it on different dolls and though it was strange they were made this way. I took my dress out again and tried it on my Molly who is a PM chubby body girl. Nope it's still way to big. Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do keep the defective dress because they all are? Or return it on principle that I shouldn't pay this much for a dress that is clearly made poorly? Any advice, opinions, or similar issues with this dress would be appreciated. Here are photos so you can see what I am talking about. Emily looks lovely in this color! But see how loose this is. It wasn't much better on Molly. It's loose on both sides and sewn on this way. It's so sad to me that is clearly looks poorly made and that they are all like this according to my PS.

Mine is something like that, but not THAT loose! It bugs me no end, because the dress itself fits perfectly around the waist, but the already tied ribbon does not! I know the bow is tied and stitched in place, but maybe you could take the stitches out of the bow, retie it and stitch down? I may try that myself.

Wow. I think I would return it. You could try ordering one online and see if you can get an older version of the dress. I have an older version and the ribbon is not loose like yours. This is such a lovely dress. I have an extra dress that does not have that problem.

I just checked the two NIB dresses I have, and neither had a loose ribbon. I *think* they are from 2009.

My Emily's meet dress ribbon is loose - I just took it in a little on both sides and it's perfect.
Use your doll as the mannequin, and pin the ribbon to where you want it to be. Then hand-sew it how you want it to be. Quick and easy fix.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I believe that I will look the dresses my PS thinks have a little better ribbons and perhaps exchange. I do believe mine is extra loose. If none of the dresses are any better I will probably return it and try again for a better dress.
I can understand that target age children might not care about a loose ribbon but that doesn't excuse the company from holding some standards. They market themselves as a premium company with a higher price tag. I expect some quality standards to be met.
Thank you for all the tips on how to fix the ribbon. If I can't find one that is made right I will probably take this route. I might try to get an older version of the dress or one that is on sale first. I really do love the color!

I bought Emily's Holiday dress the beginning of summer. I have not tried it on her, but when I looked at it the other day I noticed that the ribbon was wider than the dress. I just may take other's advice and return it for one whose ribbon is not so loose. I would not have thought of it if it had not been brought up here! Thanks for the post!

So I had to get my Emily out and check out her Holiday dress. Her ribbon is so snug on her outfit she gasps for breath in it! Bought in 2007.

I have a flaw on mine: The sash is loose. Other than that, I love this outfit. I give it an A- because of the loose sash.

Emily's Holiday Outfit is shown in the Molly movie. It is not mentioned in the books.
Emily's Holiday Outfit comes with: a pretty purple dress a pearl necklace a pretty pony holder lacy white socks
Emily's Holiday Dress is made with a light material. It has a slim fit in the top and is looser in the bottom. The coloring is a deep purple that hasn't faded after years of playing and displaying.
The only problem I have had with this dress is that the Velcro easily snags. This problem is easily resolved by making sure that the dress is fastened. I haven't had any problems with the necklace being too short like other people.
There are lots of play options for this dress. Emily can celebrate Christmas with Molly or wear this dress for a tea party. This outfit looks cute on display, too.
Emily's Holiday Outfit gives you a lot of bang for your buck! I would recommend this.
