I bought Emily's snow suit in Oct. '07. I don't have Emily yet but my other girls are perfectly happy wearing it.
The yellow jacket seems to be very thin for a winter coat. I'm not sure what its made of, but it feels kind of a like cheap wool and the weave of the fabric is really loose. I think it should have been lined or made of a heavier fabric but its a good fit with plenty of room for a heavy sweater underneath. The fake fur trim hood looks cute up or down. The blue embroidery is really nice and makes a fantastic match with the boots and skirt from the "I Like Your Style" outfit.
The royal blue bib-style snow pants look and feel just like the heavy wool snow pants I had as a kid and I was very impressed with the quality. They fit rather snug and there isn't much room under them for anything other then undies and I think they are too short, if you were wearing those in the snow, they would ride up and your legs would be hanging out!
The boots are really nice, I'm pretty sure they are leather but the plastic soles are smooth and they could use a bit of tread on the bottom. They fit well and are easy to get on and off, but I find the mustard color mildly disturbing and I also think little feet would get really cold, really fast! It would have been nice if they had included a pair of heavy wool socks.
The cream mittens are cute but I had some issues keeping them on when we were outside. Luckily, they have a cord so we didn't loose them.
I am a bit disappointed with the quality of the jacket but overall, I like the set and I give it a B. I would have given it an A if it came with socks and if the jacket was heavier.

I think it is much cuter in real life than in the pictures, but was surprised that it was a wool-like material, rather than our traditional snow suit material. It makes sense, as those materials weren't available during the 40's.

Two of my PM Mollys (1989 and 1991) wear Emily’s Snowsuit during the winter months. It fits better than most Mattel clothes. They even wear the flannel shirt or hula sweater underneath. It’s definitely one of my favorite winter outfits and a million times nicer than Molly’s ice skating one.
I love Emily's snowsuit! I have two of them. Originally they were for Edelweiss and Alice (modern twin Emilys who love the 40s), but my other dolls like the set as well. I have several doll coats, including the retired AGT Yellow parka, but Emily's is my first choice when I am taking a doll outside. It's just so pretty, and I like the way they did the gloves. They are on a string and I just threaded it through the arms and leave it that way. Then I don't have to worry about losing the gloves.
I have Emily's snowsuit but I have been contemplating sending it back. I was disappointed with how mustard-y the yellow was in person and since I already have Molly's skating outfit, she doesn't really need this. I noticed there was a substantial price increase as of the first, too!

Emily’s Snowsuit Item# F5178 $26 (price went up to $32 January 2009)
Snowsuits like Emily’s were just becoming popular for girls in the 1940s. Her suit features:
* Bib-style snow pants * A belted jacket with faux-fur trim around the hood * Zip-up snow boots and mittens
I bought this a couple years ago because it looked like something I had in the 70's. There are a pair of bib-overall type snow pants that are thick low-pile fleece (to resemble wool.) They button at the straps and have "patches" on the knees.
The jacket is a thinner material made to resemble wool and it has a metal zipper. The jacket has adorable blue flowers embroidered on the front. The belt really buckles, but doesn't come completely off of the jacket. The mittens hook through her coat sleeves so she won't loose them.
The boots are vinyl and canvas with metal zippers and very well made.
It's great that the pieces are separate but coordinating. I made the felt scarf that Ivy is wearing in this photo. Great set. Grade A
I love this outfit! The good: The jacket is the best part. It is a butter yellow with great flower detail. The pants are soft and cozy. The mittens with the long string are a nice touch. The bad: The shoes are very plastic feeling. The Missing: This really needs an undershirt or turtleneck for under the bibs and who wears boots with no socks. Grade: B

I agree with everyone above. The jacket is quite thin, especially since Emily has no pants or regular shirts to go under it... when I go outside in the winter, I do not go nekkid under my winter gear. I would have liked to see Emily have at least one outfit, that isn't a dress, even if it was a totally seperate outfit, so she could wear something under this.
That said... it is a very, very cute set - I love everything else about it.

I just recently bought this outfit. I wasn't sure if I wanted it at first.... But then I realized that almost all my dolly clothes were for like spring and summer. My girls needed some warm clothes so they could go out and play in the snow.
Yes, a shirt and socks should have been included. But I just used some items I already had. I'm really glad I bought this. I don't like how it looks in the stock photos. In the photos it looks so big, bulky and stiff that Emily can't move at all. But it's not like that at all in real life. It's very soft and nowhere near as bulky looking. Lanie had no problem moving around in it as she played in the snow.
I bought this for my Molly, who really needs a winter coat. While I agree with the general consensus that it needs socks and a blouse or shirt, it's otherwise very cute and well-done. I love the pretty embroidered flowers on the jacket, and the fleecy bib snowsuit feels so warm, I almost wish I had a pair! The boots are very realistic and fit nicely over the pair of socks that came with Molly's Miss Victory Tap Outfit. The yarn that keeps the mittens from getting lost is a nice (and practical!) touch.

I got this for Christmas and just got around to posting a review. I REALLY like it, but my one complaint is there's no velcro or zippers or anything to put the snowpants on, you just have to pull them. Still, it's a cute set. I especially love the coat. Definitely recommend it.
