Marie-Grace's elegant accessories help her stay cool in the hot New Orleans summers: A wide-brimmed hat with ribbons to tie under her chin blocks the sun from her fair skin. A heart locket to wear around her neck. A lacy fan provides a breeze on a warm day.I'm so surprised no one has reviewed Marie-Grace's accessories yet! I'll try to do them justice. Marie-Grace's accessories include: a wide brimmed hat with ribbon ties; heart locket; and lacy fan. They retail for $24. The hat is off-white and made from a molded felt-like material. It is quite stiff. The ribbon ties and band/bow are satin-finish and the same shade of pink as Marie-Grace's hair bows. The hat band is tacked to the hat in a few strategic places and the ribbon ties are securely sewn-on. Some pics: P9037963 by norasroom, on Flickr P9037959 by norasroom, on Flickr P9037958 by norasroom, on Flickr I think it frames her face very attractively and doesn't muss up her hair too badly. The bow is a little weird IMO, with this third loop sticking up: P9037962 by norasroom, on Flickr Her heart locket is brass finish with sort of a star design imprinted on the front. The chain is quite short, so that the locket does not lie on top of her gown but sort of nestles in at the neckline: P9037950 by norasroom, on Flickr My children have enjoyed playing with the fan. It's ivory-colored plastic with a cording loop, bead, and fringe detail. The fan fabric is a very pretty floral print trimmed with lace. The top edge of the fabric is unfinished and is already fraying a bit. The loop of the fan does fit over her fingers as pictured, but we could not get her to hold her fan open as pictured in the catalog. Marie-Grace's accessories just arrived and her necklace has a rather large indent right in the center of the heart locket. It looks like, well, a hole. It just looks strange - like those birthstone lockets you can buy, but with no birthstone in it. From the picture on the site I really just thought it was a design, too. But in person the indent is so deep. If they just wanted a sun design I wonder why they didn't just make it the engraved outline of a circle. (It kinda of makes it feel like they bought some birthstone necklaces from a manufacturer in China and just said "leave out the stone".) For the price I really wish they had put a faux stone in there (maybe like the ones on the birthstone earrings). I am so going to put a picture of her mother inside from the books, though.

It does look like something should be in it but that's just the way it was made. Hope this helps you!

I love her little heart locket and the fan is just awesome! I'd also second Catlin's comment- the necklace chain is really short and hard to put on. But the length is great. I like that it doesn't fall into her dress or lay funny, and it's also not choker like.
My only "complaint" is that the accessories are really sparse for the amount of money you pay. But as everyone already knows that.... It's a really cute set and the pieces you do get are great!

M-G's hat looks quite fetching paired with Addy's Meet Dress, Addy also quite likes the heart locket:

My dolls sort of share them. They love them as much I as do. Anneli gets the hat and fan, and Willow gets the necklace. I give the accessories an A+! The hat and fan are well-made and the necklace is cute.

My little sister forced me to buy this for my Marie Grace (renamed Claire) as she wanted the hat (not sure how this worked out, as I'd rather have bought a new outfit, but I'd do near anything for my little sis. The hat is cute, but I prefer the one from Addy's sunday best, as the flowers look nice then that strange bow. The fan to me seems fragile, and I don't have any use for it, as I don't display my girls. I love the necklace as I wanted a locket so that is the only piece that gets any use in this house. Overall, do I think it's worth £24, no I don't, and my sister now owes me $10 for the hat (if american girl can charge ridiculous prices, so can I)

The hat is well made and stays on. I haven't been able to get any of my dolls to actually hold the fan. It does look nice unfolded on a table. The locket is hard to put, but once on it does not look to short.

I love Marie-Grace's accessories! The hat fits just right and looks so cute on my MG. I'm afraid to tie it under her chin because I don't want to mess up her pin curls, so I just blend the ribbons into her hair and it still looks nice. Her fan is beautiful, but I wish I could get her to hold it. I've tried numerous times, with no such luck. It always slides right back off. The heart locket is my favorite piece. It goes great with both historical and modern outfits. I do wish it was a little easier to get on, though. I usually have a little difficulty with it, but maybe that's because I don't have tiny fingers or enough patience to mess with it. : Grade: A

Marie-Grace's Accessories were bought during the 61% off sale on December 5, 2012. Price was $50 for doll plus accessories.
I do not like Marie-Grace's accessories. They have a lot of potential if made from the right materials. However, this is a big belly flop onto asphalt from a twenty-story building.
Hat: B I'm being generous, because it's very blah and something I could easily craft at home. It's a white sun hat with a pink ribbon tied around it in a weird looking bow. Both ends hang off the sides so you can tie it under your doll's chin.
Fan: B-
It's basically a fan you could get anywhere at a craft fair or store. One of those cheap little fans that fold out and are tiny and cute miniatures. Not AG standard. I keep forgetting AG's quality isn't great. It may be the best with doll lines, but it's still not great. But, it is cute, so I give it that grade.
Necklace: D
Why am I so scathing with the necklace's grade? Because it feels and looks like plastic. I don't know if it actually is plastic, but it certainly is that way to my senses. It's a sad excuse for an accessory piece. It's a sort of locket heart charm on a chain, but it's pathetic looking once you take it out of the package. I'm not sure it can even fit around MG's neck because it looks so tiny. I feel guilty donating it to some needy little kid, but they might enjoy the stuff a lot more than I.
Overall Grade: C I'm not super fond of MG (without pin curls she's a cutie pie), but I leave my bias out the door with reviews. Don't waste your money on these accessories, because they certainly aren't worth it.

I bought MG's entire meet outfit plus accessories from a board member. I got a great deal so I can't address the cost/worth issue. I like the hat and do not find the bow to be weird or odd but rather unique. Adding an extra loop is something I would do when crafting a similar piece. The hat is very sturdy and would stand up to a child's play.
My favorite piece is the locket. I was pleasantly surprised that it actually opens! I didn't have any difficulty getting it on my doll, but for a child it might be a bit of a challenge. The length is appropriate. Cécile's is far too long. The star burst design on the front is pretty and gives a sparkly effect. I thought there was a crystal in the middle, at first. Knowing that there isn't one doesn't make me like it less.
The fan seems to be rather fragile. Since the doll can't hold it, I don't foresee opening it much and that should help preserve it.

The hat is sweet and frames MGs face so well. The fan and locket are particularly special. I think MG needed gloves as a part of this set.
