Plaid Skirt & Sweater Your American Girl will go to the head of the class in a plaid flannel skirt, a sleeveless denim shirt worn under a heather green sweater, gray knee-highs, black shoes with silver buckles, and a star necklace. The Perfect Plaid Outfit, this one is. TOP I wish the denim top on this outfit had buttons. It would make it so much more versatile as a summer mix-and-match top. Not that it can't be used as such without buttons, but it would look cuter with them. Top gets a B just for that. SWEATER Our sweater has stretched out a bit over time, but I like that. A sweater should be nice and roomy and chunky, even for a doll. It is soft and well-made and has great versatility as a mix and match piece. Sweater = A. SKIRT The soft plaid skirt zips up the back, which is such a nice touch that helps it lay flat. Skirt = A. THE REST You can see a bit of the green star necklace in the second photo; it is adorable, sturdy, and has a good, workable clasp for little hands to manipulate, plus a unique look. The shoes are clunky, which may not meet everyone's aesthetic, but I like them a great deal and think they are versatile and sturdy. The socks do not sag even after all this time, and bonus, they go well with Hogwarts uniforms! A for all that stuff. This outfit is very versatile and gets a lot of wear in our doll universe. It has held up well given its age. I give it an A overall. One of AG's classic sets. The outfit comes up frequently on the secondary market, although sometimes minus the shoes, socks, and necklace. Even intact, it shouldn't cost you more than its original purchase price -- and I'd say that is true even if it was NIB. It can be had so readily that its availability keeps the price down.

I just wanted to add that I LOVE this outfit too, it's one of my favorites. It was made almost 10 years ago (can you believe it?) and it doesn't look outdated at all. I wish AG would make more classic looking outfits and less trendy ones.

I'm another big fan of this outfit! It was one of the more classic outfits AG came out with in 99', and I like it for that reason. Even now,9 years later, it still looks stylish (except maybe the necklace which is so typically late 90's). The sweater is adorable and well made, as is the skirt, and I love the thick socks and chunky loafers. The shirt underneath is okay, but I agree buttons would worked better. The necklace is very cute also, although mine tarnished a little bit. I still give the entire outfit an A.

Strangely enough this is probably my all time favorite of the AG clothing. Don't ask me why?? I dearly love the chunky shoes. And I want the star necklace. If anyone has one please pm me.

I just got this skirt, blue top and sweater off ebay. Should there be an AG tag in the skirt and blue top? The sweater does have one but the other 2 pieces do not. Just wondering if this was authentic. It looks like it. So cute. I wish I had waited to find an outfit that had the socks and shoes.

I love this bunches as well. I picked it up in a lot of AG clothing on Ebay, and I have everything except the necklace. It's a little big on Haley (but I like it like that), and it also fits my PM Katarina well, too. I like that every piece is able to be mixed and matched with others. It still looks very stylish and not dated at all! Here's the outfit on 2 dolls -- Kit: and Hilary (#3): *mod edit to remove dead image link*

LOVE this outfit, wanted it for ages, so happy to finally have scored one on ebay without paying an arm and leg I think the sweater is my favourite piece, it is such a beautiful soft green. I think it could just as easily go with jeans. The sleeveless denim top ... sorry, 'meh' (it would probably mix and match well with other things too but I just don't like it lol). The skirt is gorgeous, classic, love that it zips up rather than closing with velcro. I love the chunky shoes and the grey socks. This is one awesome outfit! Huge, big A+

My favorite aspect is the skirt's zipper. It is very smooth indeed. I like the plaid pattern. I do wish also that the shirt would close with buttons- velcro makes it look a bit awkward if worn alone. The shoes seemed a bit too thick and chunky- but that could be just my stylistic preference. Overall a B+/A-

Perfect plaid outfit- Grade A+ I have absolutely loved this for the longest time and finally decided to buy myself a set from eBay. It is very nice quality and it's held up beautifully over the years. The green sweater is soft and thick. The sweater is made of real wool and is a pretty shade of sage green that looks nice on a variety of different dolls. The collar of the denim blouse poking out adds a nice touch. The skirt zips up the side with a smooth white zipper and the flannel fabric is wonderfully soft. The socks and shoes are just adorable- if you're buying secondhand, I do believe it's worth finding a set that includes them. Overall I'm very pleased with this outfit and have a few more AGOT outfits on the way here. *mod edit to remove dead image links*

Amy is wearing a plaid skirt and a jean vest. I'm disappointed in the vest because it has velcro, so when you put the sweater over it... it kind of puffs out where the velcro is. Luckily, you barely see it in photos. If they would have used snaps, or better yet buttons, it would not only be better looking, but they could wear the vest by itself and mix and match it with other outfits! Thick gray knee socks and black loafers complete the look. I don't have the necklace. *mod edit to remove dead image links*

I recently saw this and realize this is such a classically designed outfit. It really would look great on a preppy 80's girl. I missed almost all of the AGOT outfits as we were just buying historical items.
