Oh my gosh! I love love love the rain gear! I went to the Chicago AGP on the first and this was the first thing I picked up. McKenna needs this rainy-day gear to stay dry in Seattle. She can really hold this polka-dot umbrella—it opens and closes easily. Her slip-on rain boots feature printed polka dots, faux buckles, and purple trim to match. The umbrella is really cute! It looks just like a real umbrella with the velcro strap to hold it closed and everything. It has stars and polka dots on it and the colors are white, purple, and a lime sort of green. It has a clear elastic strap connected to the top of the handle so the doll can hold it. Grade- A, it's very realistic, but I took off the + for the fact that the color is... er... okayish? The rain boots are my favorite though. They are also purple and a sort of lime green and white color. The best part about them though is that they have a real buckle on the outside side of each boot. It can really open and close. It doesn't make the boots open much wider, but it does help with getting bottoms down into them... a little. Grade- A, I think they are really cute, but the colors could have/ should have been different, IMO, and they don't fit with jeans. :/ What if my doll needs to wear rain boots since it's wet and jeans since it's cold, hmm? I'll have pictures up tomorrow, after I get home from school.

I agree that this set is really cute but I think $28 would have been sufficient. The boots were a little hard to get on at first but after a couple of tries (I guess stretching them a little) they went on fine. The umbrella is adorable but even with the little plastic strap it is still difficult for the doll to hold.

Of all the sets in McKenna's collection, I am the most disappointed in this set. The boots are harder to get on than other AG rain boots that I own, but that doesn't bother me as much as the buckle. It comes undone when putting on the boots and is difficult to get buckled once they are on. I haven't been able to get it to buckle with leggings tucked into them. I like the umbrella better than I expected. It's a cute accessory. Between the price and difficulty with the boots, I give the set a C.

Please excuse the crappy iPhone photos.
I'm glad I got this set even if it didn't (quite) live up to expectation in the umbrella department. It's a very cute set and goes well with the School Outfit, but I was disappointed to find that the umbrella is ALL plastic, even the spokes. It folds up nicely and has a velcro wrap around tie like the real thing but the plastic spokes are bowed already and I've only had it up once for a few minutes to take photos. The handle is longer, I suppose so that the umbrella can sit over the dolls' head when she holds it:
I like the plastic strap to help the doll hold her umbrella, but wonder how long it will last. It doesn't seem very substantial.
I didn't have any trouble getting the boots on: the buckle simply came undone and I did it up again afterwards. I can't see the boots fitting on over anything more substantial than leggings though. As for wearing socks with them, not going to happen.
I'd give the set a C for cute.

Sorry if someone else has already asked this I did look and couldn't find it. Is McKenna's umbrella suppose to stay open? There doesn't appear to be the gadget (like Molly's)that will hold it open. If not very disappointed in this set (especially given the price.)

Yes, it is supposed to stay open. Mine stays open after you push it open to a certain point where it reaches a catch/makes a click. If yours doesn't, then maybe it's broken.....but if not, try pushing it open more until it "catches."

Mine stays open, but there is no little 'catch' thing for the bit you push up to 'click' over. I was assuming it was friction or something keeping it there...

CS said that it is actually magnetic. I guess mine became "unmagnetized!"

The rain gear is adorable! I originally wasn't going to buy this set because of the price, but my mom talked me into buying it because it would be the only set I'd be missing from McKenna's collection and she thought that I would be disappointed later if I didn't get it. So I agreed, and I'm so glad I did! The boots are similar in style to the boots from the MyAG Raincoat & Boots set. I haven't tried them on a doll yet, but I'm not anticipating any issues with them. I love the umbrella! It is one of my favorite doll props. I can't wait to do a rainy day shoot with McKenna and her lovely new umbrella and boots. This set gets an A- from me. The price lowered it from a solid A.
