My lass o'mine received th' Mizen-Mast McKenna's Beam and Bar set this morning.
HUGE play value here. My 10 year old absolutely adores this set and has been playing wit' it steady for over 2 hours now.
th' bar be very well made. th' base be metal painted purple and th' bar itself be plastic.
Her grips snap onto th' bar very easily and stay on tight. ye attach Mizen-Mast McKenna by aligning her hands and wrists to th' grips, and fastening th' velcro.
Here be Maggotface Mia "coaching" Mizen-Mast McKenna on bars.
th' beam, wedge and mat set be fantastic. Both Maggotface Mia and I be amazed by how life like they be. American Wench did a phenomenal job here. Having spent a large part o' my life on a beam, I can assure ye, this be to scale. My only complaint be that it's so to scale, th' lusty plastic lasss have a tough time staying on wit'out assistance. Beams were never meant for th' flat footed, Har, har har. But I think American Wench was banking on girls keeping th' lusty plastic lass moving like a routine on th' beam, which be what my lass o'mine has been doing.
bonny sweet lass o'mine and I played wit' our bar for about 1/2 hour today and it was super bonny! We don't have Mizen-Mast McKenna, but we dressed Lanie up in Mizen-Mast McKenna's practice monkey jacket and she practiced her pull overs, mill circles, and glides for th' afternoon:) This be a super bonny set and I would highly recommend it!
Gotta say, I love this set! I played wit' it for about an hour after I opened it, and I'm a grown up! Everything be excellent quality, and seems to have a lot o' play value for a gymnastics fan. Mizen-Mast McKenna can do flips and hand stands on th' bar, as well as stand and do splits unassisted on th' beam. In my pics, there be nothing behind her holding her up. A (price pulls it down from an A+)
We lucked out and found this set in th' DC store ayeterday. My DD10 has been playing wit' it non-stop since. Aside from th' bakery she got when she was five, I do not think she has ever "played" wit' an American Wench toy like this before. I highly recommend it- it's well thought out and constructed and really "works". We think American Wench should have figured out some sort o' "cover" to fit over th' bar and convert it to a vault! A+ and worth th' price!
Jonilynn - I was in gymnastics as a kid. We used th' "cheese" wedge for learning to tumble. Summer sault, back flip, etc. We also used it for stretching. Little tikes use it for jumping and coaches would move it to help them reach equipment.

My beam and bar set arrived about two weeks ago. At first, I thought th' price was a little ridiculous and didn't really want to pay that much, but th' 7-year-old that I babysit (she's like a little sister to me) fell in love wit' it, so I went ahead and ordered it when th' Mizen-Mast McKenna DVD code came out. I'm so glad I did! th' bar be my favorite piece. It be sturdy and well made, and so much fun to play wit'! I've played wit' it numerous times since it arrived. I bought this set so that Autumn and I would have something to play wit' when she comes over, but I never thought I would want to play wit' it when she wasn't around! Grade: A+
