We purchased this set when it was first introduced and my granddaughter and I still play with it. It's one of her favorite pieces, as there is quite a lot to the set. The stand itself is quite heavy and sturdy. I thought it might be tippy, but the curved shape keeps it standing firmly. The poles and banner aren't permanently attached and can easily be removed for a more versatile piece. With those removed, only two 1/4 " diameter smooth round holes show and can easily be concealed with the register and food pieces. Without the top part, it can become almost any kind of store or check-out counter.
The cash register opens with a gentle push of the button and our only concern with that is that there is virtually no clearance for the "money" inside. We put in just one or two bills at a time so they don't get stuck. The included bills are printed on one side only.
The food items are very well detailed. The pretzel bags have foam inside to hold their shape. The cotton candy is fleece and since I thought it would get ratty pretty quickly, I wrapped each in a clear plastic bag. It looks even more realistic that way, too.
I am not a big fan of plastic, but would still grade this set an "A" for it's versatility and playability. Lin
My DD got it for Christmas and plays quite a bit with all of the food items that come with it. The stand itself doesn't get much use by her and her friends, though she always returns the food items to their "proper" shelf when she's finished playing, and sets up one of her dolls to manage the stand in her absence.
My daughter got this for Christmas. The food items are great but she likes the stand as well. She plays store or concession stand. If you couple it with Julie's bleachers (on sale they were $28 with shipping), it makes a great game piece. We need the game accessories but this is a wonderful piece. You could also take down the sign and use it for any kind of different store counter.
I also got my daughter the concession stand for Christmas along with the movie theater seats. We do movie night on the weekends sometimes and set these up together for the girls to hit the stand before the movie. She also enjoys playing store with it. It makes such a cute display piece too! My opinion is that it's a little on the expensive side at list price but I think a good investment since she does use it and looks good even when not in "use". On sale it would be a no-brainer.
I ordered this on Monday and it's already here. I can't say enough about how much I love this piece. The food is very detailed and high-quality. I especially love the cotton candy - it's made of a fluffy pink material. The cash register buttons really work. It opens and closes and the total sign pops up when you hit the total button. We are going to get a lot of use out of this. I am going to use it with the bakery and tie Kit's lanterns where the banner goes. I am also going to convert it to a flower shop when I have a little more time after the move.
It is a large, sturdy piece that is put together well. I think it will have a lot of versatile uses with other AG accessories. I love the detailing on the food; it really does look good enough to eat - which could be an issue if you have younger children who have access to this piece.
My one (minor) complaint is that the sign actually covers part of the dolls face. Not so good for taking pictures!
I would definitely recommend this!

I apologize, jess has been doing a lot of gymnastics this morning and her hair is very messy...but she stopped to take this photo for you:). My 20 month-old is about so my older daughter did not put all the accessories on the concession stand. We just recently purchased on CL on love it:)
Forgot about the register! The number keys press down, but they do not actually compute. The drawer opens and the total comes up with $16 each time when total is pressed.

My daughters often use it as a restaurant display case, shoe store, school lunch counter, etc. We sometimes remove the banner in case it bothers you to have the doll's face partially covered. It's easy to remove and store away.
