This outfit is worn by Cécile in the book Troubles for Cécile. It was released in 2012 and retired in 2013.
Cécile's fancy ensemble is perfect for summers in New Orleans! It features: A true-to-era lemon taffeta dress, with a pretty striped yoke, a gathered bodice, and bell sleeves with organza trim. Cécile can shade her eyes with a faux-straw bonnet that ties under her chin—ribbon and daisies add a touch of elegance. Two-tone boots with button details complete the look.
A little bright for my tastes, but gotta love that they finally made a bonnet! And I love the bell sleeves.
At first glance the boots are just like MG's meet boots, but side by side MG's are bright white while these are slightly softer white. Sorry, I forgot to get a pic of them.
Grade: C. The thin fabric is really bugging me.

I do not own Cécile, but here is my #26 modeling the bonnet, dress and boots. I will admit I bought it because of the bonnet and I do love the bonnet. The bonnet is made of a soft and flexible straw looking material. Addy's bonnet is very stiff compared to Cécile's. The dress as others have expressed is thin and cheap. I would have preferred it be made out of a material that didn't remind me of a child's play parachute. I would have liked a nice breathable cotton material. I do not know anything about material used in the 1850s, but Cécile would have sweat like a pig in this dress in the New Orleans summer heat. Dollies do not need swamp butt. Overall, I like the style and color, but the thin material is quite discouraging for a price tag of $36. i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad313/kgabor19/American%20Girl%20Reviews/SDC10036.jpgmod edit to remove oversized, embedded image

While yellow is not my favorite color, this dress is not so garish in person. The color is more of a lemon yellow than a the bright neon yellow shown in the stock photo. I also think that the brightness of the yellow will depend on whether you have the dress on a dark or light skinned doll. The dress fabric thinner than some of the other dresses AG has made. I was initially disappointed that it is somewhat see through. The dress is nicely made and I feel the quality is there. I love the bonnet. It is very cute and versatile. It can be worn with other outfits. Since I want to show AG how much I like the NOLA collection, I bought this dress even though it isn't my favorite of Cécile's dresses.
ETA: This dress is suppose to represent silk. Silk is a sheer/thinner material. Most items I have owned that are silk needed some kind of undergarment, like a chemise, so you couldn't see my bra. So the fact that this dress is somewhat see-through, is most likely accurate. Silk is very breathable and cool to wear in warmer climates. Think how expensive this dress would be if AG actually used silk? And yes, I still think it would be see through.

I like everything about this dress except the fabric. The color required a leap of faith but it really does look better on Cécile than it did in the AG pics. The bonnet is cute although I don't get why the daisies are only on one side of the brim. While the styling of the dress isn't my all-time favorite, I'm reassured that it's historically accurate. I even like the boots. The fabric is really the only issue for me. Anyone actually wearing this in summer NO would expire. I'm glad to have it but if I'd missed it, I wouldn't feel too bad.

Just received the new "Limited" outfits, I didn't like Céciles' yellow dress from the pictures, but in person it's even worse. Cheap yucky feeling, THIN, taffeta-looking polyester, it looks like something you'd find on a dollar store doll. The bonnet is not as cute as it looks in the pics either, the flowers look cheap. The boots are the ONLY nice thing about the outfit. I'm still going to keep it to sell later, but I can't imagine why anyone would want it, it's just so awful. Big Fail on this one.

I just love this Summer outfit! It is bright but pretty. I did pair it with a white slip because the fabric is some-what thin. I give it an A- , it would be an A+ if the fabric was better. Attachments:

This is probably one of the worst quality outfits I've ever bought from AG. The material is thin enough to be see through, and very cheap feeling. It's also neon yellow. The quality of the dress leaves much to be desired, however the bonnet is nice and the shoes are a plus. Dress: D. Bonnet: A. Shoes: A. Overall: C.

Now, I've liked the design for this dress since I saw the illustration for it and I want Cécile to have all her outfits (plus I'm apparently a sucker and fell for the LE aspect) so I went ahead and grabbed this one when I ordered her, passing on the Parlour Outfit I've been wanting for months. I have to agree, the material is thin and yucky. This is the same fabric as some other AG outfits (such as Felicity's Christmas gown -- probably my biggest AG clothing disappointment). Although askmkids had a very good point that the fabric probably should be sheer. Her meet dress is a bit sheer but it's a MUCH nicer material. I'm not sure why they couldn't have made this in a similar fabric. I know many people hate or dislike the color, but that I don't mind. It doesn't look neon to me... mine is a very summery lemon yellow. I love the boots and bonnet. I think the whole look is very cute, despite my disappointment in the dress fabric. Overall, I'd give this a B-.

I don't have any pictures of this dress because I had to leave it at my mother's house, but I wanted to weigh in anyway. Based on all the reviews, I wasn't sure if I'd like this dress, but when I saw it at AG Seattle, I thought it was really pretty. The yellow is a lovely shade. Kind of a buttery lemon. Not eye searing or anything. The feel of the fabric didn't bother me and it didn't bother my mother either, who is an excellent seamstress and extremely particular about things like fabric quality. The little bonnet is very cute as well. While I would have liked it if the dress looked more like the one in the illustrations, overall I quite like this outfit. Out of everything in the store, this is what I chose when my mother offered to buy me something, and I don't even have Cécile yet! She will look pretty in it for sure though.

I think Emily looks great in the dress! It is thin, but looks great against Emily's hair color! DD is hoping for the arrival of Cécile for Christmas

The color and detail on this dress is really pretty, I don't care for the shiny look of the material or the bonnet style.
