I love this furniture set! IMO, the beautiftul wood makes it worth the $110 price tag. It adds so much to horse play!
Stable: A. The coloring and finish of the wood is beautiful. The stable is very heavy and has a solid feel to it. Only downsides are that the inside of the stable has an inferior finish, and the horseshoe is made out of plastic. It's tacked on very well, but still, plastic. I love the doors to the stable. They make a nice click-swing kind of motion when you open them. It's very realistic.
Fence: A. The gate consists of 4 interlocking pieces, so you can store them easily and do different set ups. They are made of plastic, but the plastic is very heavy and non-shiny. It has a realistic wood texture and coloring. The connection is a tight fit, in a good way, and the pieces stay up very well. Many people in the AG reviews complained that there were not enough fence pieces included. True, if you want to make a fully connected loop from your stable, the horse would feel cramped. But I prefer to leave the fence open so sit and play with the dolls and take pics, so 4 pieces is fine for me!
Hay bales: A. 2 are included in the set. They are basically stuffed cubes sewn out of a soft, woven straw. Usually, I would like to see something more realistic, but these are very cute, don't shed, and seem like they would hold up to lots of play.
Lead rope: B. Nice quality, but could be longer. A lot of its length was used up when I made a slip knot so my doll could hold on to one end.
Water trough: D. Shiny plastic, bright blue, "Rising Star Stables" written on both sides, unrealistic plastic-wood legs.... the quality does not feel like an American Girl toy. Although, for those who like to do Innerstar U scenes, this piece would fit.
Plaid blanket: C. Fits AG horses well. The flannel is nice quality. The bright blue pleather strap/ buckle? Not so much. I think the colors are too bright. They looked bad on Penny, but I have seen the blanket in AGPDC and it didn't look too bad on those horses.
Stable fork: B. The rod part sort of looks like real wood, but is plastic. I like that the fork part is red, rather than pink or purple. Overall, if it had more weight to it, it would be more realistic.
Overall grade: A. The stable is so beautiful! It makes up for the somewhat disappointing accessories.
