I was dying for a Jess mold doll for ages. I nearly bought a 25 MyAG, but then I bought a lightly used Jess from a board member, my first ever purchase from here. At first I didn't like her-she looked kind of dorky to me and her meet skirt did not jibe with my sense of style. On a whim I brushed her hair out-and my word was I ever wrong! She's a beautiful doll and so versatile- have her staged in Molly's time period, perhaps narrowly avoiding the internment camp some how. Here are some shoddy pictures: I still do not know what they were thinking with these dorky pig tails... But with her hair down, she is much prettier to me, in my opinion. Jess doll - A+
DH bought me a brand new Jess doll for Christmas. Since she was GOTY before I started collecting this is my first time owning her. I always admired her from afar and was going to get a MyAG 30 but then hubby surprised me!
The Jess mold is by far my favorite & Miss Jess is a gorgeous doll. Her skin has a nice peachy color & her hair has a zig zag part with reddish highlights/tints. I haven't taken her braids out yet but from what I can feel, her hair is very soft and silky. It doesn't seem thin at all. Her eyes are not uneven & are a lighter shade of brown when the sun shines on them.
Her meet outfit is cute but I'm getting ready to put her in something warmer until spring arrives. I will take some pictures & post them later since I can't seem to upload from my iPad.
If you don't own her and are on the fence about purchasing her, I definitely recommend her over 30 or 40.

I loved pictures of Jess, but I didn't want to be left to the whims of the secondary market, so I bought #30. While I loved her face, her hair drove me to distraction. I decided to take a chance and get an actual Jess, and I am so glad I did. Her hair is a beautiful color, a very dark brown with pretty red highlights. Since mine was used, her hair didn't come in the braids, and it looks like there is less curl than some others on here. Her hair is a nice thickness and easy to work with. I know the Jess mold is prone to uneven eyes, but the Jess I got seems to have nicely matched eyes. Jess's meet outfit is very nice. I love the bright colors on her. The halter top has some pretty embroidery of flowers and butterflies. The skirt seems to be tie-dyed stripes, pink and orange on a light tan/beige background. It is lined in tan. I don't have much to say about the flip flops, I never used them but they seem ok. I think the outfit suits Jess's story pretty well, and is cute.

I received my Jess yesterday. Here she is!
She and #30 are very similar. The most similar dolls in my collection. They have a little bit different skin tone. Jess's face is a little narrower, but that could be just batch differences. If I have to choose between Jess and #30, It would definitely be Jess.
Their hair.
All my dolls that have Jess mold.
I think Kanani is the most beautiful and unique. Jess is the cutest. If I can only keep one doll, it would be Ivy. Mainly because she is my first AG doll and I love her decal eye with the modified eye shape. As for #30, I have to say she seems to be a little redundant in my collection now. She has my name, represents myself and is played with a lot. I will never sell a real "truly me" doll.

I am a huge sucker for the Jess mold. Quite a few Ivy dolls and My AGs live here. Since I was in the process of photographing a few things and with all the chaos that is going on concerning Photobucket, I thought what better time to share some pictures. : )
Jess has a wonderful blend of dark brown hair with auburn/reddish highlights that comes styled in braided ponytails. Her eyes are also a warm brown color. One of the unique aspects of Jess is her hair part. Not content with being 'one of the crowd' she likes to go for a zigzag-esq type part. It is a really easy way of telling Jess apart from her doppelgangers.
Her Meet dress is a breezy skirt and halter top outfit in bold oranges and hot pinks. The skirt has a tie-dye type vibe, where the halter top looks like it could be mixed and matched with anything from Jeans to shorts. I like the versatility of it, especially the cute little design.
Her sandals are also pretty cool. Since they are brown, they can go with almost anything. They have transparent elastics on the back that help them stay on Jess' feet.
My main worry with sandals like this is always whether the elastic will hold. Seeing as how this Jess hasn't done much in the way of backpacking and adventuring I figure it's a moot point with her.
Overall we've never seen her wig color and zigzag part reused in any doll, so that is pretty unique. Her hair also lends itself to multiple style options. Her halter top and sandals are pretty versatile, but her skirt isn't so I'd give her a strong B+ on clothing, a solid A on her wig, and an A-/B+ on the doll as a whole.

Jess is a beautiful, beautiful doll, and one that I waited many years for to find one in good shape at a good price! My Jess seems to have a more "open", wider face than others I've seen, which I think gives her a friendlier look. Her eye openings are definitely more rounded than my Ivy and #30, which I think is just something about my specific doll and not something that I mind terribly as it makes her stand out next to those other two dolls. Her dark brown eyes are very warm and bright, and I think the auburn highlights in her wig are a nice touch. My doll's wig is a little thin, but you can't tell when it's down, and I love the very loose waves that it has: it's very low-maintenance but still easy to style compared to the stick-straight wigs that some of the other Jess mold dolls have (which are still beautiful, I just appreciate the diversity!) http://instagram.com/p/CDNFG_SMUR8

I absolutely love my Jess! She's been a longtime favorite around here! Her hair color is one of my favorites that AG has ever made. The reddish tint is extremely unique and really makes her stand out among my other dark-haired dolls. And that part! The zigzag part is so perfectly mid-00s! My Jess's hair is still pretty full and soft, though when it's down it still falls into waves more than a decade later. http://instagram.com/p/CE2dGkPsXug http://instagram.com/p/CBjcEP0s-d- http://instagram.com/p/CC_9VBtMhOC I will say I did buy a second Jess to customize, and her wig is a little dry and thin, however, since it's been so long since she was released, I'm not sure whether that's natural variation, or if the second Jess was very well-loved.
