From the AG site: McKenna's Performance Set Item# W0730 McKenna can shine in the spotlight with this performance set designed to keep all eyes on her! A lemon-yellow leotard, featuring foil star graphics and contrast sleeves She can add sparkle to her rhythmic gymnastics routines with a purple hoop and ombré ribbon wand she can really hold! Her hair will stay neat while she performs with six clear elastics and a curlique ponytail holder Includes a hairstyle card with easy-to-follow tips for creating her high bun $28 The leotard is well made. It has the less snag sort of velcro, but I do feel like it will still snag the material. It's not the same as the velcro on the new Fashion Boots (which would have been a better velcro choice, imo). I can't get my hoop to become an actual hoop. It seems to be permanently bent. Possibly from being shipped in 104 degree weather. The hair accessory is so cute! I think it's my favorite part of the set! The ribbon is nice as well. I like that it has a holder so the dolls can actually use it. Good to know that my hoop wasn't the only one that was bent. Mine looks just like the one previously posted and I bought it at AG Place Seattle... I love how many pieces are included in this set and it's all very cute. I could not however get McKenna's hair to go in the bun they show on the hairstyle card. Her hair is not quite long enough and so there are all these short pieces that stick out when I tried to twist it into the bun as shown on the card. I'm normally pretty good at doing hair but this style was a no-go. I followed the first part and then just ended up putting it in a pony instead of the bun and it still looks really cute. The velcro on the leotard snags easily. Even though it is the kind that is supposed to snag less. Be careful I snaged mine twice while trying to get it on the doll. It was a bummer. I give it a C+, because although it's cute and has a lot of play pieces there are too many issues for me to rate it any higher.

DD picked out this outfit during a store visit in DC: she says she likes the stars on the outfit and how the hairstyle looks, she also likes the accessories and how the doll can hula hoop with the hoop. (she dictated her review for me to add!) We do not have McKenna, but Emily is learning gymnastics and happy to wear the outfit! Our hoop started out warped like the photos above, but very quickly relaxed into an almost-perfect circle - maybe because it did not have to travel except to the store? However, in pulling all the items from the box, DD immediately lost the rubber bands for her hair, so we substituted. Emily is a re-wigged Kit and the hairstlye worked nicely on her, though I agree it is far too complex for a young child to do, and I added bobby pins to hold it more securely. Emily has had her hair up for several days and it still looks pretty good. The velcro does snag (sigh) but I think there is no way around that with this kind of fabric. DD took photos for our review, sorry about the toes . . . The whole outfit: Accessories: Close up of the hair:

I'm not quite as pleased with this set as I'd hoped I would be. I wasn't too pleased with the price either, but I really wanted to complete McKenna's collection, so I went ahead and bought it anyway. The leotard is cute and fits well, but it does snag easily. I already snagged mine, and I was being careful with it. I don't like it nearly as much as the one that came with her practice wardrobe. I think I would have preferred purple as the main color instead of the lemon yellow. The yellow almost makes it a little bit too bright, IMO (my mother agrees with me on this). The hair tie is adorable, and is my favorite part of the set, followed closely by the hoop. My hoop is almost a perfect circle. In fact, you can only just see that it isn't, and if you weren't paying close attention, you probably wouldn't even notice at all. My dog loves the ribbon! I was sort of twirling it around above her head, and she was spinning around in circles trying to catch it. Now I'll just have to keep it well out of her reach when I'm not around so that she doesn't steal it. Grade: B+
