We really liked this set too. I would have to agree that the skate guards do fall off quite easily and AG should make an attacment piece like with real skate guards. The medal is well weighted and sits quite nicely on the doll. I do prefer the performance dress to the warm up outfit's fit. I find that the leotard could be a bit looser in spots only to ensure a more accomidating fit, although I wouldn't discredit this set because of it.
Honestly I give the set an A! My dd#3 loves it on her JLY#25!

I have this and love it, but there are a few things I would add or change if I could. The fabric is great, very authentic, I think. The warm-up outfit: The shrug is adorable, but the jumpsuit underneath is pretty tight, even on Jess, who is a skinny-minny. The performance outfit: This part is adorable! Though it, too, is a little snug. However, where are her tights? No self-respecting skater would go out on the ice without her tights! Close-up of the ice skates: They're cute, but why are they purple? They should be white or flesh-toned. Other than that, they're really fantastic, very sturdy. As far as how well they're made, I actually like them better than the PM white ones that go to the Skating Star outfit. Close-up of the medal and waist detail: All in all, I give this outfit a B+. The skates are really off in color, and they should have included tights, but it's still a really cute, high-quality outfit. I'm glad I got it.

Skates and Guards: B- These are lost in accuracy. I'm a skater, and I have NEVER seen purple skates. Never. I don't really have a big problem with the guards. Unitard and Shrug: B The unitard fits really tightly around the legs. I'm really annoyed with that, but I'll live. The shrug is super cute. Dress and Medal: A- The dress is super cute. I LOVE the flower. The medal is just....there. And where are the tights? Overall: B I'd include pictures, but I can't figure out how.

This outfit is really cute, but ultimately I returned it. None of my dolls skate, so it spent a lot of time just stored away. The dress is really adorable and in retrospect, much much cuter than Mia's crushed velvet horror. The black practice unitard is great- it's too bad Mia didn't have one in her collection. The shrug is just flat-out ugly. I hate the sparkly material. Yuck. The skates, unfortunately, are a really annoying color. Not only do they not match either the shrug or the skating dress, but they won't match a thing in the rest of your doll collection either. I wish they'd gone with something like white, or even a light, non-sparkly, pink. Grade: B-

I just purchased this set NIB from a board member, and I have to say that I love it. I don't actually think the pictures do it justice, although that's true of many of the outfits.
I hear what many of you are saying about the colour of the skates, but when DD saw pictures of this set (she doesn't know I have it) she went on about how 'beautiful' the skates are and how she wished hers were that pretty. Since I've purchased Mia's white and purple skates for her I hadn't actually planned on keeping this pair, but she likes them so much that I've changed my mind. I do wonder how long the little grommets on the skates will last; I think it's a good thing that the new skates lace all the way up, although this version is more accurate.
The performance dress is very cute. I like it better that most of what was released for Mia and it is far nicer (IMO) than the current skating sets. I didn't expect to like the shrug, but I think it's a lot cuter in person. The leotard/shrug combo can also do double duty as dance gear, so it's a very versatile set considering my daughter's interests.
Given what I paid for the set, it's a resounding A+. If I'd paid full retail, the skates and the snug fit out the clothing would have bumped my rating down into the Bs.

I only have the performance dress and the medal from this set, as I got them in a lot from CL. Either way, I'll review them for the benefit of others. I give the dress a grade A, due to the fact that I have been able to use it as a regular dress or shirt in addition to a skating outfit. The stretchy pink is accented with sequins and a floral applique. The color is vibrant, and although pink, doesn't bother me as some of the other pink hues AG has put out. I would have given it a few more points if only I wasn't constantly worrying about the bottom fraying. The ends of the sheer tule are not hemmed or finished in anyway, so watch out for snagging. The medal shocked me, being that it is made of actual metal! Very good quality. The rhinestone bobby pins are cute and well made. ~mod edit to remove broken image links~

I purchased this outfit directly from AG. My Jess wears it, as she looks adorable in it and I decided between my two modern girls, she was more likely to be a skater. (:
I give this outfit an A. The sweater is cute, the dress is adorable. The skates are really well made, though the guards do fall off easily so I have to keep a careful eye so not to lose one. I realize purple skates aren't exactly common, but I think for a doll outfit they're acceptable (but then, I'm not a skater!). I think they look really cute with the costume, and don't mind that they don't match anything else I own - they're only worn with this outfit!
I agree, it should have come with tights for the performance costume. Why'd the leave them out? Seems odd to me.
The medal is kind of bleh. It's discolored even though I never used it. (Maybe the lack of use caused it to discolor, I don't know).
But overall, I think it's adorable. But if you get it second hand, you're not missing out on much if it's missing the medal or skate guards lol. Even the skates could be replaced with any white skates.
