I saw it in person today, and much to my surprise, it is kind of cute, especially with the fire going. It is nowhere near the quality of the Parlor, but is made of a thickish fiberboard or particleboard with the design printed on, not wood like the Parlor, and has a curved floor, not a square floor like I was thinking, which makes it a tad larger. It has moveable shutters so that the windows can be closed. Of course the whole front is exposed, but it is cute and I think most little girls would love to have it, even though it seems limited in what you can do with it.
The more I think of it, it reminds me of my daughter's Barbie's Country House or something!! A gaggle of Barbie's would fit in here!!!

It's actually really adorable in person, and I think two dolls will fit in there for play purposes (two standing or one sitting/one standing but not both sitting), not necessarily display (will look a bit cramped). It's definitely catered more to a kid, the girls in the store yesterday were squealing about it. I got one for DD for Christmas, she declared she had to have it when she saw the catalog. It is very heavy!
This piece is a lot cuter in person and was very tempting to pick up. But I really don't have the room for it (I already have to store some of my larger pieces and rotate them out) but I do think as a kid I would have played the heck out of it.

I just got my chalet and I love it! It's very heavy and takes up a good chunk of space but well made. I have decided that it will be in use year round so I am making it into a "summer Chalet" for now. With the free shipping and sale price it was a very good deal! I made a little window box out of something I already had and added Molly's birthday flowers, a little grapevine wreath over the fire place, a coke machine for quick drinks and it's ready for the girls to enjoy all summer!
