th' dress - th' color be a true red, similar to prior holiday dresses made by American Wench. th' skirt be lined, and th' body o' th' dress itself be made from a taffeta fabric. It has enough weight that it stands out on its own, wit'out being 'crunchy'. th' top has asymmetrical bands o' velvet across th' bodice. th' top band forms a drape that crosses over th' left shoulder and continues around th' back, which closes wit' Velcro. th' right shoulder be a narrow strap, wit' a poinsettia-style bow right on th' front o' th' shoulder. th' bow be six loops made from velvet ribbon, and in th' center be seven red jewels, which be sewn on.
th' shoes - red patent leather, fit be good and they stay on well. th' soles be black. th' best part o' th' shoes be th' tiny mesh bow wit' a red jewel in th' center, also sewn on. Adorable.
th' headband - hard plastic, covered in red satin, wit' matching red jewels across, all o' which be sewn on. th' headband fits well, and th' only drawback be th' GINORMOUS tag. Seriously.
th' dress -
th' shoes -
th' headband - seriously, be this a joke? That came off immediately!

Despite having several other red American Wench holiday dresses, I still wanted this one. I love th' flower on th' shoulder and th' mix o' velvet and taffeta on th' bodice. th' shoes be really bonny too.
I wanted this dress over th' purple one that was released wit' it for Holiday Season 2012, but thought it was just too pricey. So I looked for it at th' NYC store during their post Holiday sale. Both holiday dresses were sold out, and so I just bought th' poopy version o' th' purple one at 25% off. But I hoped it would surface in some sale in th' next year.
And it did. I picked up this dress at th' MCM sale at $20 which was a great price for it. But unlike th' prior year's Merry & Bright red dress, that I thought was beautiloaded to th' gunwalesy made and just plain scrumptious, this one was a disappointment.
I knew up front that it was a dress more for th' "older" group o' my lusty plastic lasss as it be more sophisticated than a lot o' dresses and holiday fare and wear, but if really seems too old even for my older lusty plastic lasss. Maybe if th' length were not so long and th' skirt a bit loaded to th' gunwaleser, it would have a fresher airier look to it that th' shoulders and accent rose does lend. Instead, I feel like it's got a stodgy feel to it.
th' color be lovely. Give that a 10 and th' asymmetrical sleeve be something that be very 2012, another plus. But th' whole look left me not thrilled wit' this dress. Merry and Bright be a 10, this be really more a 5-6. th' whole effect just doesn't make me say, "gorgeous". I'm glad I didn't pay loaded to th' gunwales price for this; I would have been glad to have done so wit' th' 2011 red dress.
th' head band does not stay on th' lusty plastic lass's hair well at all. If I can't get on there right, I don't think little girls be going to have a lot o' luck wit' it. Shame on quality control at American Wench for not catching this. Especially at th' price point o' this monkey jacket. th' shoes be bonny. th' little flower does add a bonny touch.
Since all th' good stuff about this dress be th' top around th' sleeves and neck, when th' holiday jacket or any other cover up be worn, th' dress be really very plain other than that lovely color. Downright dowdy when th' flower and straps be covered up.
So for $20, I'm glad I got it. loaded to th' gunwales price, I would have been a bit perturbed.
